SBR Rockr Pod Lite, anyone use one?

I borrowed (stole) my wife’s 2 5lb hand weights (and replaced them :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Just bought mine so I have awhile to wait but exited as Im not handy enough to build my own and the Saris option is ridiculous in price.

  • The front wheel? You at least want a riser that is 3" tall from the ground, to match the Lite height.
  • Not sure on the current one, but mine came with hard mounts for a Kickr.
  • There are lots of slots, and it may include straps to hold different trainers. Not sure what is currently included?

Check out the video here. You can see the slots and the attachments for Kickr and Neo. https://youtu.be/fgQ0BxofrUk

Well mine just showed up, but some of the mounting bolts didn’t make it, gave them a call and they’re getting some sent ASAP. be sure to check yours as soon as it comes.

When you order it, you specify the trainer you have and they send to the hardware for that trainer. There are plenty of slots and hole in the plate, so as long as you by extra hardware for the second trainer, i dont see why it should work. I have a core, and they sent two clamps and two straps, you may just be able to use straps to hold whatever trainer, so you may be good to go with one set up.

Mine came today too, but our boxes sit in the garage for a few days before we bring them inside.

Hey @Pbase I just ordered mine and I’m very excited to try it. How long did it take to get yours after you purchased it?

Mine took 3weeks, but i called as soon as they were listed on the web (they were actually sill updating the website) and at the time they said they wouldnt even start making them for two weeks. It possible that they made a bunch and theyre just sitting there ready to be shipped…or maybe you have to wait for another production run. Give them a call, theyre very helpful and friendly.

I did a short ride on mine and am very happy with it. Feels good. Money well spent

Mine took a little over 2 weeks from order to shipping. The packaging was even bigger than I expected so I suspect it’s packed well. I haven’t opened the boxes yet.

As mentioned by others, they’re very helpful and answer questions quickly.

So I’ve been using mine for a few weeks now and I’m curious what others think. I’ve never ridden any other rocker, so don’t have a comparison. I expected it to rock more than it does. I’ve completely removed the balance balls and it still doesn’t rock much. For example, OOS I have learned to do left leg down, bike leaning right, and vice versa, but it’s not leaning as much as it would on a real hill climb. Is that normal?

How much pressure are the rest of you putting in the balls? I’ve considered that if I go to a really high pressure it would cause more rocking, but it also raises the rear VERY high up.

It’s a nice sturdy build, and was easy to setup. It’s unfinished, so look out for splinters.

I think the only caution I would give is that if you’re a sprinter, you might want the full length version. I’m trying out Xert, and when I try to go for max power OOS sprints, the whole unit moves. I ended up facing in a different direction.

Any other opinions?

Like you, I use my Lite with no balls, just the curved rails for centering. I am on a carpet surface, that tends to damp the rocking action a bit, until it “packs” the carpet very firm. Once that happens, it is pretty “active” for my needs.

Seated, it is easy to move and provides a good amount of motion for my needs that leads to a comfortable and natural feel.

Standing, it is easy to move just off center, but “stiffens” more with further lean. This is because of the curve shape, that is apparently a compound curve (according to the inventor). I find it is a bit stiffer than I ultimately like for the best standing feel and rocking around 5* per side. I think I would like a rail that has more curve around 3* and further, to make the centering force lower, and rocking wider angles easier.

Chip (the inventor) says he thinks the performance is better with balls, but I need to test that to see if I can improve the far angle feel. I’m not surprised that more pressure results in lifting of the plate. It is one reason I like the double deck rockers that hold the springs “captive”. This allows for more preload without lifting.

When he debuted the rocker, I suggested the option of selling different shaped rails to tune the feel, along with the springs. He just has the one shape for now, but I think a 2nd design with more curve could be useful and this is one example.

just curious if y’all are still digging your rockr pod? i’m about to pull the trigger on one. i’ve been trying out the Saris MP1 that my buddy let me borrow but didn’t think it was that great except for climbing (which I admittedly don’t do high elevation tracks that often).

thanks!

I’m still happy with my Rockr Lite. I’ve gone back to using it with no balance balls. I’d say the downsides are that 1. it’s unfinished so the wood does create small dust and splinters, 2. Because I’m not using the balance balls and it’s short, the rocker “walks” a bit. I can start a ride with it facing straight forward, but by the end, it’s at an angle. This is particularly noticeable when you are really hammering or OOS.

The upsides are that it “just works” out of the box. You just follow their instructions to lock the trainer down and level it. Also, it’s inexpensive, so it’s a great way to see “will this really help me”. If anyone comes out with an out of the box solution that has fore/aft movement but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg like the Saris, I will probably upgrade, but this made for a great first kit.

I really like it. I havent ridden a mp-1, but i assume the mp-1 is better…so if you dont like that, then…

I dont have any issue of it “walking” but i dont really do max sprints on a trainer, its stays put with rides with power 99% of the time below 400w. I have the balls in use, but really low psi (actually ive never added air, just using then in the semi deflated state they got shipped to me)

so! this is just my humble opinion… i’ve been riding the rockr pod lite for a few days now and I much prefer it to the mp-1. i believe the mp-1 is great IF you mostly do hard climbs. the back and forth movement is awesome. however, the sway side to side movement on it is really stiff and almost unnoticeable. i’d much rather have side to side sway when i ride.

the sway on the rockr pod lite is perfect for me. i’m not using the balls. i actually put those underneath the riser for my front and i get an even a nicer movement going.

it’s also a much better value at 1k less than the mp-1 so all in all a win win for me.

i give the rockr pod lite 10 out of 10 unbruised taints.

I’m interested in your idea of putting the ball under the riser. Do you have a pic?

Appreciate the feedback. Parallels my feelings the the Lite is an amazing rocker for the price. Uber simple and care free in daily use. I plan to made a modded version with a slightly different curve, but it’s already darn good.

hey! sorry for the late reply… so i ended up temporarily removing it because it wasn’t the most stable thing.

what my next plan is i think i’m going to reach out to SBR and inquire about getting another ball. then top it with a piece of wood so i can put my riser on top.

what i did before was fill the bottom of my riser with a towel and placed the balls in it:
