Yesterday while riding my H3 I heard a loud sudden cracking sound from within the trainer. After removing the side cover plate, I saw the drive pulley was cracked in four places and found two small shards of plastic broken off of it. Fortunately I could order a replacement drive pulley on Saris’ website and a Saris service rep emailed me replacement instructions.
Great to hear that you could get replacement parts! Better if it didn’t happen, but long term parts availability is important.
Make sure you take note of how far screwed in the tension bolt is. I replaced the pulley on mine and didn’t. It hasn’t been accurate since.
Thanks for your warning regarding the tension bolt.
The service manual Saris emailed me indicates the distance between the two washers on each end of the tension spring should be 3/4". On my H3 this distance measures 13/16".
As a follow-up to my original post. The new drive pulley arrived on-schedule and was easy to replace. Replacement took about 20 minutes and did not require special tools - no circlip pliers, no pulley puller, etc. I’ve been riding the trainer for over a week since replacing the drive pulley and it works fine.
Are you in the states. Can’t seem to find spare flywheels in UK.
Theres a few H3 spares or repair, on Flesbay, but don’t know what you’re getting, or if the flywheels ok
I got mine from Raleigh.
Part number is 29150
Or you can have mine lightly used, the new belt I fitted at the same time (I never could calibrate it) plus the hi hat that always cracks, the imperial allen keys, and any other parts you want from my H3 and for me for £50 + postage, or come and collect from the Peak District.
Screenshot of my order for the flywheel
Don’t know if they have the drive pulley in stock, but I’ve had success getting spares from adventure kit hire before (Search: 15 results found for "Saris h3" – Adventure Kit Hire)
If they don’t have it stock they may be able to source one as they seem to have a route for other H3 spares
@jzhowie Considering your offer. Where about in the Peak District are you?
