Riding outside and workout "paused"

I ride outside and today, for some reason, my workout was “paused.” I lost like 15-minutes of clock time. Does the workout “pause” if I come to a traffic light? If so, do I need to flip a switch to tell TrainerRoad I am outside? Appreciate the help.

This might depend upon what head unit you are using and the settings for it.

I’ve got a Garmin Edge Explorer 2. It has no problem with the lights. I have TrainerRoad on my phone and pair it to my power meter before the ride. I’m new to TrainerRoad and have not had a problem with my 1-hour rides. This was a longer 2-hour endurance ride. Maybe it was a glitch in the mobil phone service, because there were no stoplights on this route. It’s really odd.

Or maybe I need to figure out how to transfer my TrainerRoad calendar to my Garmin head unit. And then I don’t need the phone? Is that the preferred approach? I’ve got things synced, but the workout doesn’t transfer onto my Garmin calendar.

I use a wahoo and have never had any issues getting the workout to sync. Can’t say I’ve ever run the TR app on my phone on an outside ride so can’t say what the issue there is. I know the app has a setting has a “pedal to pause / resume” function but you would think that it would start again if it paused. Only other thing I’ve noticed is that my iPhone can be sensitive to sweat getting on the screen and can sometimes act as a button push.

If it were me I’d contact support to figure out how to get outside rides syncing to your Garmin.

Okay, @stickmandj . It took a while, but I discovered my mistake. When I set up my training plan, I didn’t click “Outside” for the workouts; hence the need for the phone, etc. I have edited my plan and clicked “Outside” for my workouts. My next TR workout is already on my Garmin calendar; and the two after that are scheduled for Garmin. All is good! And again, thanks for the assist.
