Thanks everyone. This has been an incredibly helpful thread for me and I’ll be diving in.
Side note, I’m doing gravel locos in a few weeks and I’ve uploaded the 63 mile route to RGT. Now that should be interesting!

Yeah, exactly the point I made above on why TR and Zwift may be “forced” to merge and figure out the details later. The comprehensive training ecosystem will be too appealing for many to consider other options.
The price will be an incentive for me to look into it for sure, but I think for me it will ultimately come down to the quality of the features, not the breadth. I found both SYSTM and RGT to be underdeveloped In some areas and stretched a little thin, so the sum ended up feeling less than it’s parts. Had my complaints about the UI as well which definetly extend to Zwift ![]()
To be fair I can see that approach working for people that want a bit of everything (and I suspect that may be a larger percentage of the market), but I’ve leaned towards TR in the past simply because I’ve found it more polished and user-friendly when it comes to the limited features I do use. With that said I still think there’s still a lot of room for improvement in those areas and the bulk of TR development isn’t really headed in a direction that interests me, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that changes over time depending on how other services deliver.
Indeed, Zwift need a kick in the rear. Development seems to be slow. When releases/updates come out, they are bug ridden, many of which could be caught by having someone install said update and going for a ride or two. In short, QA is horrible or non-existent.
Did Wahoo kill or hide features in Sufferfest? I’m not seeing anything that warrant such comparison between TR and Systm. Actually pretty disappointed based on a cursory view and beside a few sprinkles (yoga, mental, weights, etc), I’m not seeing much to write home about after the jump to 4DP from the video subscription.
Hope they don’t kill off RGT.
Wahoo right now is a jack of all trades but a master of none. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing as there is some good things just cobbled together at this point.
for me I like the “it just works” model. I know many here enjoy digging deep into the data and analyzing all their workouts and questioning if AI is making the right adjustments, etc. at this point my life I don’t really want to do that. I want a plan to follow. I still have a coach which I love so I don’t have to think about workouts. It’s all included.
I do like TR option of TrainNow but I’d need to fill in the gaps for strength training and yoga myself. Not a big deal but nice with WX just to pick those things as plan options that show up on the calendar.
In case Wahoo product manager comes past to read:
Please expand the original Sufferfest videos approach on structured training! DO NOT LET SUFFERFEST GO AWAY!
For me Sufferfest videos is still the only valid way to do longer, harder, structured workouts on a trainer. Curated music, a quirky story line to keep the mind engaged, riding instructions, 4DP model more differentiated than using just FTP has been in place for a few years, and they had the cross-training on the platform for a while, too. ISLAGIATT anybody?
There is also Xert on the market, could it be a candidate for Zwift as well?
Garmin/Tacx has also gotten some serious competition as a result, Garmin is not getting off the ground at all with the Tacx training app,
so Wahoo is overruling Garmin/Tacx now!
Has Garmin even done ANYTHING with the Tacx training app?
yes, they are integrating Garmin Connect more and more, but that is not enough, so you can’t use Vector 3 and so on, the App is very limited for me, the Training Plans are a joke.
The videos of the routes should be good (thats the one and only thing), but you read again and again that there are major problems with the app
So the Tacx Training App could be interesting if it offered more options like TR or Zwift.
Sort of like importing a workout of the day into Zwift and riding some virtual track
But Wahoo first has to design the uncontrolled growth of their apps in such a way that everything becomes compatible with each other
Distance limit is 100km
That’s true, there’s only so much that can be done with a poor quality source file. It’s recommended to build the route first using a route builder site, instead of using the gpx file from an IRL ride.
It’s always worth using the Bend/Gradient Problems tools as well after a One-Click Quick Fix. Only takes a couple of minutes and helps to iron out any remaining issues.
I personally use the bend smoothing tools etc. as well to try and ensure the turns are like you get on the real life course, but that’s probably overkill for most.
I use Apple TV for RGT. SYSTM doesn’t have an Apple TV app. How will that work?
RGT is still a separate app
In the world of virtual cycling training apps, that sounds like Garmin has done next to nothing compared to others. It’s as if I’m in a race and the person ahead of me is riding at 20mph and I increase my speed from 15mph to 17mph. I’m not gaining I’m just not falling behind as quickly.
I agree that Wahoo needs to figure out how they’re going to seamlessly merge wahoo systm/sufferfest and RGT cycling in a way that makes sense.
Big learning this morning. Just because you schedule a ride on magic roads doesn’t mean it just starts at the time. Give yourself a good 5 minutes after login for it to build the course. Maybe 10.
Was that a Quick Ride or a scheduled race on your magic road?
