:waving_hand: hi from Brisbane.

TLDR: If youโ€™re going to continue to build volume like I have, RLGL may take a while to settle. If you stay with your current actual volume, possibly should be fine after a couple of monthsโ€ฆ?

I had a big step up in volume in January following a pretty slack November & December. I add a fair bit of volume: some running & strength, & an audax ride about every second weekend. The audax rides have grown over this period too. I was keeping a lid on them during the hotter months: max of 100km until the autumn equinox.

I started Traditional Base 1 (Mid vol) in January, did it 3ร—.
Then TB2 MV in April,
TB3 MV in May,
TB2 MV again in June. Currently on a reco week.
Next Iโ€™ll do TB3 again.

Start of the first block in January:

:backhand_index_pointing_up: Thatโ€™s with the training approach on โ€œDemandingโ€.

March was lower so minimal colored days:

March had the cyclone, at the end of the month I decided to move house, then the first week in April I was sick so I just delayed the start of the next block. Contrary to the appearance, all my โ€œindoorโ€ workouts are actually outside.

Weeks 2 & 3 in mid-April. Similar TSS to the start of the year but clearly less warnings:

The two weeks weโ€™ve just had:

Still getting yellow days but itโ€™s probably the biggest fortnight Iโ€™ve ever had on a bike.

I canโ€™t claim specifics on any of this as itโ€™s all based on your personal data..

It looks like itโ€™s been just over a month since you ramped up your training. Have you recently changed your training approach? It looks like Sunday, yesterday, and today are the first non-yellow/red days in quite a while.

Itโ€™s likely that the strength training on all your off days is having a big effect here as well, but with consistency, that should all even out as well..

It looks like things are working really well for you. :+1:

More red/yellow days early on, when you increased training stress, is expected, and seeing only one red day on a rest day now is pretty much perfect. :raising_hands:

Thanks Eddie, yes I feel like it is. I think I can get away with more in these Trad Base blocks than I was able to the last time I did Sustained Power Build. Iโ€™m planning for a build in August-September. Just thought Iโ€™d poke my head in the door here to highlight a real-world example of stepping bike volume up suddenly with similar extra activities.
