PSA: Fix for Emoticon & Dictation issues with Workout Creator on the Mac

PSA - passing along fixes provided to me by TR Support (Andani - :+1: - today) for the following two issues with Workout Creator on the Mac:

  • You type an “e” and the emoticon keyboard pops up
  • You type an “d” and you get the dictation item

Emoticon Keyboard Fix:

  1. Click the Apple logo on the top right-hand corner and go to “System Preferences…”
  2. Go to keyboard
  3. Click the Shortcuts tab and go to App Shortcuts
  4. Click the ‘+’ sign and put WorkoutCreator as the application
  5. Under Menu Title, input Emoji & Symbols
  6. For Keyboard Shortcut, press Option + Command + e
  7. Click add

Dictation Fix:

  • Click the Shortcuts tab and go to App Shortcuts
  • Click the ‘+’ sign and put your app
  • Under Menu Title, input 'Start Dictation… ( with three dots )
  • For Keyboard Shortcut, press Option + Command + D
  • Click add

Thanks. This bug is still present in June 2024!!! TR could please fix the root cause? This patch however works

Not fixed because TR hasn’t updated Workout Creator in literally years, and from responses on the forum, I don’t expect them to ever update it.

This workaround also works for users who have “e” or “d” in their username/password … otherwise, you can’t even log in!

Write your password somewhere else, copy it and paste it in the login, that worked for me.
