- Yup, choose workouts you think are right for you, complete them and then TR will give you the PL that directly corresponds with that workout & zone.
Found this thread while trying to find a way to reset my progression levels. As for reason? I have been doing mostly outdoor rides for the last few months. I have matched those to workouts TR workouts based on duration and intensity. That was my mistake. That matching has resulted in overstated progression levels. I can do a 4-5 hour outdoor ride at .8 intensity but the IF and TSS for that outdoor ride matches to a level 8-9 Sweet Spot ride. No way I can complete a TR workout like that.
So now I want to use Planbuilder and it has me starting out base with SS rides at level 9. I want to reset the progression levels back to something more realistic.
Sounds like the answer to this would be to unmatch those rides (or maybe ask support if they can unmatch them in bulk for you).
Unmatching doesnât work. Iâve done that and PLs remain maxxed out. I also unchecked the box so the rides would not be considered but that did nothing. Iâll reach out to support but at this point it seems my only option is to fail workouts until AT catches on and lowers PLsâŚ
Hey there! We can get those sorted for you. Would you like all of your zones reset?
It sounds like youâve still been riding and training, so I could set them to Level 3, which is generally a good âdoableâ starting point if your FTP is accurate. As you get into training, you can also use Workout Alternates and use the search filter to look at different workouts at different levels.
That would be great. Thanks. I am ready to use planbuilder for me winter and spring races.
Awesome! All set.
Good luck with the upcoming training and feel free to let us know if you have any other questions!
Hi, just wanted to chime in with another reason to want to reset your progression levels. I already emailed support as suggested in this thread so no need to do anything for me here.
I had an accident in summer that lead to quite heavy injuries and I guess AI isnât able to account for broken bones, torn muscle and heavy blood loss so as I want to start training again, all my recommended workouts are way to hard even after adjusting my FTP manually as the workout levels arenât right. So rather than going trough the progress of having to choose my own workouts (why use TR then) or failing every last of the workouts I am given I just want to start new and have a kind of normal (slow) progression again. The mental aspect of loosing so much fitness only then to fail everything when even doing anything is really hard to swallow.
Maybe this helps give another perspective on wanting to start âfreshâ
This is an old thread, but as I have just been looking for the same thing, why not get the 2-cents of you guys who have been through this.
I messed up this season royally. Early this year I wanted to self-train and wrote a training plan in Todayâs Plan. When they folded, I obviously lost the plan. I then wrote a new plan and followed it more or less successfully (the baby didnât exactly helpâŚ), fell ill mid-season and then did not dial back my training enough. Now, Iâve been on the verge of over-training for a while, and have started a âlast-minuteâ plan in TR (no, I donât expect you to fix my season). I also did a ramp test which bumped my AI-FTP from 330 down to 312W.
Long story short, I want to restart building fitness after my goal event (47km ITT on 21 September) and thing that starting from scratch with a ramp test and 1.0 PLs would be the best way to do it.
Any thoughts or experiences that might help?
Typically, our athletes really wonât benefit from dropping all of their Progression Levels back to 1.0.
Your PLs recalibrate when your FTP changes (which yours did last week) and they will continue to adjust as time goes on based on your training activity.
Setting all of your Progression Levels at 1.0 isnât really a realistic way to train since we all have strengths and weaknesses in different zones. The only reason we start new athletes at 1.0 is because we are unaware of their abilities, and to ensure that we arenât giving them workouts in any one training zone that arenât too difficult which could result in failure. Adaptive Training will quickly dial in where their levels should be in each zone moving forward.
Even if youâre starting a new training plan, trying a new approach, or have just taken some time off, your PLs should still be close to where they belong. Again, Adaptive Training will make the adjustments that it needs to based on the workouts youâve completed in the past and how long itâs been since youâve trained.
It looks like your last few workouts have gone really well, so Iâd keep doing what youâre doing!
