Pro Road Racing thread 2021 (spoilers)

Valverde, IMHO is underappreciated. Also IMHO he embodies a Combative rider. Always trying to push the attack on the big mountains…

Trying to find stage resutls for the 2021 Volta d’Cataluyna and neither the UCI or Volta homepages have complete data for each stage let alone the complete current standings. Why?
In 2021 why should I have to look anywhere else on the Googler other than the UCI or Volta webpage? Why Why Why? :sob: :sob:

The real question is why go anywhere other than https://www.procyclingstats.com/ for the results :joy:

I was really impressed with Adam Yates today. To be able to react to Sepp’s kick, hold onto his wheel and then later drop him, shown how strong he is at this point in time.

On a side note Caleb Ewan looked great at MSR with how he held onto the end. With that kind of form, I dare say, he may be a green Jersey contender for a GT.

Yeah Yates consistently stayed far below expectations the past few years. Maybe Ineos is a better environment for him?! Remains to be seen how fit he’ll be for the …TdF was it not?

Ewan really just got stronger and stronger the past 2-3 years. On a similar note Sam Bennett seems pretty unbeatable so far. It’s gonna be interesting.

Thanks this is what I"m looking for… I just don’t understand why the regulating authority, UCI, does not have have that data or a link to it…And then the race sponsor doesn’t have it either. Geeze, How can you run an organization and not market the results of your S1 races that has your biggest stars…
thank you!

Ewan’s got an amazing kick but doesn’t really have the team like Sam Bennett or the positioning skills of Sagan to really consistently nab the win on flat stages, imo.

I understand.

Perhaps it’s because a site like Pro Cycling Stats (PCS) has become so prevalent and widely used that the UCI and organisers don’t see a need to be as responsible as they should be with these things.

In the UK, PCS is continually sited as a key reference and source of truth by commentators of the races.

This is the UCI page for the event, which links to the race promoter’s site:

This is the race promoter’s site with full listings of GC standings and individual stage results:

What am I missing?

Originally, the schedule did not have a women’s Roubaix, but when everything was rescheduled for the fall, it was added then. Was a bit of a surprise for everyone, but unfortunately neither happened.

Love these types of climbs. For me is a good 80-90 minutes in high sweetspot. Winner Anacona has the kom at 49m :colombia: :colombia: :colombia: … but this will be broken today for sure, I think.

Nice win by Chaves!! :colombia: :colombia: :colombia:

Awesome to Chavez win! I hoped Kämna would go a bit further, but very happy for Chavez!

I followed your links UCI webpage calander link is not active you have to cut and paste, but okay I did that and it worked.( I did see that during my perusal of the UCI calander.)Low and behold i found the data I was looking for. thanks.
But when I sent the note I could not find anything. But now all is good in Whoville I have the Volta Info and I got turned on to Pro Cycling Stats. Heck during stage four I saw a PCS Camper on the route, who knew.

Yep, I heard the announcers refercence them during yesterday during stage 4 and they also pointed out a PCS Camper on the road. Or should I say Caravan

Catch the highlights of the women’s Brugge - De Panne if you can … great finish. Watch it from just over 10km to go.

E3. What a race. Anyone who hasn’t seen it - you need to watch it from 85km to go…

Amazing teamwork from Quickstep and they thoroughly deserved the win.

The only mistake that the other teams in the front group made was when Asgren got caught in his penultimate attack the other teams carried on pulling at the front, maybe if they left Quickstep to do the work then possibly group 2 catch back up in order to weaken Quickstep and even out the balance of power in the group.

Great race though.

wooohoooo second time is the charm! :de: :de: :de:

Spectacular race…just the heavyweights trading blows for the last 80km.

Surprised WvA blew himself up like that. He should know better than to pull that hard when attacking that you can’t get on a wheel when the inevitable counter comes. Dunno if he just overestimated his strength or what.

Deceunick gave a masterclass in tactics today. Kudos to Asgreen for being able to dig that deep.
