Have we heard if Cav made the time cutoff?

Sounds like he will….

Great finish. Happy to see Bardet get yellow in his final Tour. A nice send off. DSM will ride hard to keep the jersey as long as possible, so UAE and Visma are also happy about it.

Wout finishing third is hopefully an indication that he is back on form. :crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2::crossed_fingers:t2:

I’m still pessimistic about the GC action but today is a good reminder to take enjoyment in the individual stage story lines.

Redemption for Wout after injury would have been good too, but it means so much more to Bardet to get a yellow jersey before retirement and to the French to have a French winner out of the gate.

Yea, it was cool to see Bardet win the stage and for Cav to make the cutoff.

Peacock team just did a bit on the Jumbo Control Room / Van. That was moderately interesting. Here is a link to what they were talking about:

Was that in today’s race coverage? I was wondering in and of the room and must have missed it. Any idea when it was?

See my separate thread on this Visma-Lease a Bike "Control Room" Van: Fair, Foul, Meh?

34.5 miles to go. Roughly 3:35:00 time stamp on the stage replay.

Top notch stage today……great racing across the board. Glad to see JV was able to respond to Pog’s acceleration and Remco did a helluva ride to catch them right before the line.

I definitely did not have France winning the first 2 stages on my 2024 Hellscape Bingo Card!!:rofl:

MvdP flats 6km out…Philipsen just lost his best lead-out man!

GIRMAY!!!

Wow…what a finish.

Hoping that Cav didn’t go down in the crash, nor anyone who did is seriously hurt

That was an incredible sprint and a decisive victory, chapeau to Girmay. I’m now anxiously waiting to find out where Cav was.

Carapaz gets yellow due to placings…ballsy ride to be up there in that sprint!

I bet a lot of people burned their Phillipsen pick in the TdF Fantasy league today…wasn’t even in the Top 10.

You were right. More detail in this Escape Collective article with a picture of Carapaz in the front sprint group How EF Education-EasyPost pulled off their yellow jersey heist

I had to look up the count back rule details. The count back is the sum of all positions so far.

Stage 1 Result Stage 2 Count after 2 Stage 3 Count after 3
Pogacar 4 14 18 38 56
Evenepol 8 12 20 40 60
Vingegard 16 13 29 68 97
Carapaz 22 10 32 14 46

Carapaz needed to gain 14 positions on Pog to take yellow. The fact that Carapaz came in 14 is a coincidence.

Lost his lead out man to a puncture I believe

Today will be interesting

Great for EF and Carapaz and I think Pogi is also happy didn’t seem to thrilled that he went into yellow on stage 2. I hope today will be interesting and that everyone gets safely down the descent.
Very happy for Girmay seems to finally have his form back. Good start to the Tour with 3 underdog Teams winning the stages.
