Potential Issue with Canyon Outlet (Positive Resolution)

Great! Please update thread title.

That’s a good result. I wonder if it’s worth putting an edit in your OP so that those who don’t bother reading passed the negatives of the bike are aware that you did have a positive outcome/were looked after by Canyon.

Sucks you are back to not having a bike, but at least you get to spend a tiny bit more time looking at bike porn.

I purchased 2 outlet bikes without issue. One I think was just a left over a few years back.

The OP’s bike might not have been one that someone returned within 30 days. it could have been a demo bike, test bike, or bike used for a review that may have been some length of time explaining the cut steerer. 30 day returns are supposed to be in new condition and cutting the steerer would probably void returning it unless no one noticed. They rate the level of previous use on each outlet bike. Some have been ridden and other are new with scratches or chips.

I bought a Canyon for myself - a bran new one - last year and one for my wife a few months ago. I called them for support and they were very helpful both times and I have no regrets on my purchases. I’m glad to see they were willing to refund you.

Was just going to do that and it looks like the mods handled it first.

Feel free to edit as you like. I just popped in since there was a delay in the edit, and I preferred it be up to date based on your positive post from yesterday.

Now, I’m in the position of not knowing what bike to get (I know, poor me). Ideally, I’d probably prefer to get an Aeroad, but I know they are getting ready to refresh the line and have limited stock in the American store at present. Irritatingly, Canyon has a better selection for folks in the UK and I wonder if we will see some of those models in the US soon.

Glad that you were able to resolve it with Canyon and had a positive outcome.

I have 2 Canyon bikes: The Grail and the Endurace. I bought the Grail new last year, and the Endurace from the outlet store just a month ago. The Endurace from the outlet store came with a few minor surface scratches and I think imperfect paint job on the top bar. However, with the huge discount ($4600 out of $6000), I’m getting such an amazing value for a well-designed bike with top of the line components.

Happy with my experience with Canyon.

Hows the Grail - it’s on my (newly created) shortlist …

Loving it. It’s such a fun bike to own. Very comfortable on both rough roads and tarmac. It’s actually a better endurance bike than the Endurace, due to the vibration dampening system (the hover bar and the seat post). Geometry wise, it’s a bit more aggressive (longer reach) than the Endurace, but it’s still very comfortable.

The only thing that I changed on the grail was the saddle. I just cannot be comfortable on the Fizik Aliante saddle.
