Portable aircon

Anyone here use a portable aircon unit to make the pain cave more comfortable? I’m tempted to order one but was after others feedback before I spend a few £££. To be honest I’ll mainly be using one with the heating function to lift my room temp up when winter training.

I ride in an uninsulated brick shed so in winter it’s pretty cold 3degrees then in summer 25+ though I don’t use it too often in the summer. I have 2 vac master fans that shift plenty of air sometimes I find them 2 good on a cold day I end up with windburn from the cold air hitting my sweat.

I have a small window and was looking at a unit that does heating and cooling so I could set it 2 about 16degrees in the winter to warm it up. I think this might be a lot more comfortable if I can warm the air a bit and have it remove the humidity. I have tried a dehumidifier that I put outside a few times and find that raises the temp a few degrees and makes me sweat a little less(I’m quite a heavy sweater)

My shed isn’t insulated at all and has a couple of small gaps however is only about 10m2 I’m looking at a unit that’s designed for 20-30m2 so think it should be fine and the noise doesn’t bother me as I ride with headphones in

I don’t have one, but am considering it. Hopefully you get some responses.

Never used one for training, but I’ve used window units in homes/apartments. Cooling will cool the room and dehumidify. Heating doesn’t dehumidify per se, but the increase in temperature lowers the relative humidity. Generally speaking, for cooling it’s best to keep them running or start long before you want the room cool. If it’s cool in the AM, start it then to keep the room cool as the day gets warm, rather than try to cool down a hot room. it’s possible, but start hours beforehand if trying.
