POD 8 review or alternates

@Jonathan mentioned the pod 8 system and how great it is in this weeks podcast. I heard the same (also not sponsored) thing in another podcast today. Anyone else have much experience with it or alternates?

We’ve been using the Chilipad Dock Pro by sleepme for a couple years now. Had one unit crap out that was replaced under warranty. Other than that we have been happy with it. Using a King we so wife and I each control our own side.

Haha wondering the same. The sleep eight pod 5 is like 3k. Sounds awesome and I think it would improve my sleep but that’s pretty steep and it requires a subscription. Still considering because I’m an idiot though.

Also have a dock pro from sleepme. Dual (we) system I’ve have since june 2022. The first two units we got were both DOA but they quickly replaced them and have worked great since. The cooling in the summer is awesome because my house is so friggin hot on the second floor without setting AC to like 60 degrees. The heating in the winter is just so nice to crawl into on those single digit temp nights.

However, based on everything I’ve read, they are hard to recommend. As stated, mine were dead on delivery. There were a lot of stories like these when the first came out - so I would hope nearly 4 years later they’ve got most of that figured out. There are also a decent amount of stories out there of leaking units - so much so that there are aftermarket valves and such to replace the originals with to prevent this. Again I haven’t paid as much attention since release since mine have been ok since replaced.

But they are so much cheaper than the eight sleep and without a subscription so it’s a tough choice.

My wife and I have been using the Eight Sleep Pod, and mattress, for a number of years now. While we find the mattress to be comfortable, and the temperature adjustments to be reasonable, the app/firmware have not been great. This might be different if you sleep alone, or you and your partner keep to your own sides of the bed, but it really struggles if you like to snuggle/spoon. This makes sense, I suppose, as the sensors are side-specific, but it makes the data reasonably useless. The number of times that I sleep for 8-ish hours and get a sleep report that says I was ‘away’ or got only a few hours of sleep or was awake for multiple hours overnight seems too many for the price. And, IMO, the ‘autopilot’ feature isn’t great. It often wakes me up with large and sudden temperature changes. I have found it better to just set the temperatures first the different ‘segments’ of the night to specific temps that work for me, and just leave them there.
