At first glance that jersey looked like somebody’s grandma knitted it
Men’s 100m final said “Hold my beer.”
No lies detected.
Lyles’ reaction time out of the blocks is very good, but boy does he take a while to get rev’d up. Probably gives his parents a heart attack with each race coming from behind.
Well that was a ‘self spoiler’. I held off watching the Mixed Tri until now. I missed that it was a highlights package, only to look up two minutes later and see the sprint for the line
running really really fast may have helped
He’s a natural 200m sprinter. The 100m has never come easily to him. His start and drive have improved tremendously compared to 3 years ago, but he’s still coming from behind most of the time. But, if he’s winning the 100, I am guessing he’s going to be a monster in the 200, which is his better event by a big margin.
Finally got caught up on the women’s race from yesterday. Managed to avoid spoilers somehow
The final 40 km of that race was one of the best I’ve seen all year, just absolute pandemonium. Strongly recommend this to fans of men’s cycling who don’t watch women’s, what a great race on the biggest showcase
Nice gesture by He, who advanced in the tournament and eventually won silver, due to Marin’s injury. Spirit of the Olympics. (She is holding a Spanish pin on the podium)
Finally watched a Tri from start to finish.
Great race, even with the spoiler it’s worth watch imo. So much turn and turnabout.
I’m glad one nation has not dominated the tri, as much as I wanted GBR to win all three, it’s a much fairer reflection of how competitive the field is distributed as it is.
Tertch is some kind of animal, I don’t care what anyone says, she won that.
Dickenson, omg, silenced the doubters at the end there.
Knibb speaks for herself.
Kudos all round, massively entertaining.
Just watched the race! What an ending
Incredible, eh? Top drawer stuff.
Tri never disappoints. Pretty awesome stuff.
It was a race for the ages. I had the best time watching this race with my family that doesn’t even cycle. They loved the attacks, strategy, and the beauty that is racing through Paris. One of my favorite races of the year as a spectator.
I had my money on Kopecy but good to see Vos still on form.
Speaking of track (from other thread), how are we feeling about Ingebrigtsen vs. Kerr?
We are hoping they spend so much time marking each other that Hocker slips in with a final kick neither can respond to…
In reality, Kerr has been ON lately. If I’m partial it’s to Jakob, but something tells me this one’s Kerrs to lose. (Obviously just a complete guess!!!)
Edit: I feel similar to how I felt with Hodgkinson in the 800. My feelings were even if Mu was there this lead up for her was perfect and Keely would have won.
Hocker looks great. Of course, I can’t not pick Josh and Jacob for the top two sports on the podium, but he matched their vicious acceleration in the semi and never looked in distress, unlike the rest of the field. Seeing how comfortably Hocker dispatched a guy who went on to run 1:43 in the 800 at the US trials and how sharp he looked in his semi makes me think that he’s sitting on some monster fitness
I hope we’re both wrong and get what we want rather than what we expect!
Honestly I think Josh takes it. He simply has no weaknesses in an unpaced 1500m. The question is whether Jacob has either worked on his weakness sufficiently, or has enough to go up front and time trial away from him. Probably not. But that’s why they run the race. The 1500 rarely go as you might expect it.
and now news that athletes are sick…
