Paris Olympics 2024 (spoilers)

And then there’s the Louisiana Cajun pole vaulter, representing……Sweden.

Definitely looks like we are going to see a few records tumble this year.

Great start for the Brits :united_kingdom: - mens team pursuit looked sharp in qualifying too.

I would compete for Sweden too if I could. He gets a lot more support than he ever would here.

Absolutely. I just caught it part of the way through and heard him speak for the first time: whys that guy sound like Payton Manning, I thought. And then they ran the story (an appropriate back story for a change).

Set the world record too (his own, lol). Those last attempts were great to watch.

Commentary were saying that his sponsor pays out every time he sets a new world record… so he makes sure he only beats it by a little bit each time so he can set a new one more often :moneybag:

Sucker’s race by Jacob. He should have known better.

Cole MF Hocker!

Great race. One of the best 1500’s I’ve seen in a while. I thought Hocker blew it when he tried to move up on the inside the first time.

I couldn’t believe they opened it up for him again inside when he had already shown he was strong enough to go. He’s from my hometown too!

Unbelievably poor decision to do that in an Olympic final - he absolutely knows better but must have been doubting his fitness to take it in a sit and kick

Letsrun.com site crashed. Not surprised based on that race

I would say opposite. Dude thought he could front run a WR. I would say Josh Kerr was on the money when he said there are too many yes men in his camp who won’t tell him otherwise.

With Jacob and Blumenfeld not making the podium, the Norwegian hype just took a serious hit

Jacob will most likely win the 5000. He will run that more sensibly.

Josh Kerr :2nd_place_medal::uk:

We’ll see what Warholm does. They got the W in the decathlon.

Yeah, he looked around at the 200 mark and I think he couldn’t believe he still had three guys with him, and knew right then he couldn’t win in a sprint.

Ingebrigtsen knows that he has the strongest last lap / Kick in the 5000m so he is pretty happy to just sit in and go on the last lap. He probably is a better 5000m championship runner than a 1500 (still the best 1500m runner overall). Was really great for him to pull all the guys to PRs  .

For Duplantis, it is normal that in the high jump and Pole vault yo only increase it by a cm or so every time, especially if you know you have more and more of them in you, yeah Sponsors and Events pay out for each WR, so why wouldn’t you get as much money out of it as you can.

Sergei Bubka was the originator (and master) of this.
