Optimizing an outdoor training plan for the local terrain

I recently moved from Japan to Austria and we are still waiting for 9 boxes we sent by mail. One of them contains my Elite Suito, so until that arrives I will need to train outdoors. Unfortunately, the region I live in does not have long climbs or long, uninterrupted sections, so I don’t think I will be able to (safely do) long intervals. The hilly roads are safer, but they go up and down (doh), which makes it a bit hard to stay on power when I am going downhill.

Originally, I was thinking of doing a polarized block as in previous years, but replacing the threshold/VO2max workouts with something suitable. Do you have any ideas and input? What gains would I see if I replaced the longer, sustained threshold workouts with shorter ones? Should I opt for VO2max intervals instead?

Tbh this sounds similar to my local terrain, not great for structure but plenty of fun riding. Might be time to just ride about and get some volume in.

I do have a couple of 3 minute hills I do laps on but that’s about it.

Would be perfect when levels v2 is released!
