I recently restarted my TrainerRoad subscription after letting it lapse for a week as I was on holiday.
When I logged into app I did an AI check FTP and it gave a small reduction as expected as I’ve done no training for a week 280 down to 274.
Though after renewal of my subscription I couldn’t get the app to create a plan for me so I decided to use the web version. At this point the web wanted me to onboard so I went through the process - same connections same data, though onboarding gave me a FTP of 192!
Upside was I could no create a plan, downside was the weird ftp. Only way I found to remove it was delete it from my history.
Yeah I did a test, I was just surprised that after taking 1 week off from training and letting my subscription lapse for that 1 week, app and web ftp numbers differ so much -35% is pretty extreme!
I agree, my FTP was 230 I took a week holiday and when I got back my AIFTP dropped to 214, this put me back to January numbers, it didn’t make since to me.
I had a similar issue. The last few weeks I have not done as much focused workouts since I had longer gravel races both weekends. I am starting a new build so wanted to set my zones correctly. I did an AI FTP detection last Tuesday and it dropped from 320-316 which I thought was inaccurate based on how I have been riding and feeling. To check I did both a 2x8 FTP Test and 20 Minute FTP test last week after the questioning. My 2x8 I averaged 368 for both intervals which at 90% would set my FTP at 331. The twenty minute test didn’t go as well as I wasn’t fully rested but I did average 346, or 95% would set my FTP at 329.
I ended up manually adjusting my FTP to the lower one at 329. Crazy as I was guessing my FTP was likely around 330. I think the moral of the story is still doing testing (especially the 20 minute which I hate) is probably good to do periodically to verify numbers.
