Onboarding Question

I joined TR yesterday and connected to Strava and Zwift. All of my rides were imported and the AI detection put my FTP at 240 when is is really around 260. I have also been using Intervals ICU and keeping track of my TSB. Currently my ATL is only 6 higher than my CTL but my calendar is telling me my training stress is high. Is this due to the AI having my FTP too low? I’ve noticed that TR shows my rides with a lot higher TSS for each of my rides.

I just ignore their training stress recommendations. Sure it’s right some times, but often makes it seem like if I ride that day I’ll die.

No, I didn’t even get close.

First, I’m not sure what you mean by your AI FTP being 240. I’m pretty sure you need 10 workouts before getting an AI FTP.

For the fatigue management, it is using AI, so it’s more complex than ATL and CTL. It is only accurate if you’re recording all the activities you do and it can take some time before the AI knows your pattern.

Also by training stress being high, do you mean a yellow or red day?

@Marc97 After it uploaded all of my ride data from Strava and Zwift the AI estimated my FTP at 140. As far as the fatigue management, every ride I do I record power and HR so it should be able to manage that based on what was uploaded. My thought is because it has my FTP low, it is recording a higher stress on my ride than what it really is. Maybe I just need to do a ramp test to set my FTP correctly and then everything else will fall in line after a few weeks.

On the app, go under account and you can manually set your FTP there. You can disregard the yellow and red days for the first few weeks if you think it’s way off.
Make sure you record all your activities during the next few weeks to let the AI catch up.

You can change your FTP manually

Click on “Account” in the left side bar menu of the web interface and change it to whatever you want.

It runs off of existing ride data for new users.

You can also go under settings and turn off red light, green light. It can be useful for the onboarding phase. I’ve been using TR for a year and the AI knows me really well, so red light -green light is always accurate for me.

Hey there,

As other athletes mentioned above, you can manually change your FTP on your Account Settings page if you already know your FTP. That should help get your training stress/Red Light Green Light recommendations more in line.

Let us know if you need a hand getting anything set up as you get into TR workouts/plans. It looks like you’ve also been riding quite a bit lately, so don’t be afraid to use Workout Alternates if it seems like any of your workouts are too hard/easy getting started. As you complete workouts and your Progression Levels “settle in,” Adaptive Training will get you and your plan dialed in quickly. :muscle:

When I signed up with TR in Nov, I uploaded tons of recent ride data and got no AI FTP for me until I completed 10 TR workouts. That’s what the support sections says as well. Still true or not?

That is still true – AI FTP Detection still needs 10 completed indoor TR workouts to function.

Does TR use OLD training data then?

I just signed on, haven’t used it in two years, and it gave me an FTP estimate.

If it was relying on training data from TWO YEARS AGO that would explain why it was so wrong :joy:

I have been training consistently for years though, at about 20 hours a week. So there is a lot of data there.
