New Stages Dash Cycling Computer (2022 release coming soon)

Still in a holding pattern here as I wait for more detail from both Stages and Giant.

I’ve continued to ride with the M200. Battery burn always > 10%/hr. Technically as per-spec… the claimed 18hrs is with battery save mode. Not ideal, imo.

Anyhow… Noting that they’ve said BikeExchange are/were/have(?) used them in the World Tour I went searching for a few Strava rides to review their GPS tracking accuracy. BikeExchange riders are still uploading from Garmin Edge devices. :man_facepalming:t2: … Addition: Even snooping Stages athletes from their Insta @ Sea Otter… I can’t locate any of them using Dash head units.

If anyone actually has one, I’m keen to hear any feedback.

I just cant help but feel like this is a Windows Phone…by itself, its pretty damn good, but when Iphone and Android already exist and own the market-share, its gonna be a very niche product.

I heard a ton about this the day it came out, and nothing since. Still never seen one in the flesh on the road or MTB

That said, love their power meters! 2 friends with stages bikes as well, nothing but great reviews from them!

Stages big feature (for me anyways) was their algorithmically generated training designed to work in or outdoors on a stages bike computer. They seem to have completely ditched the workout generation/build features though as the Premium version of Stages Link can no longer be accessed (at least if you don’t have an existing subscription). Outside of signing up for TR or a TP training plan there no longer seems to be a way to get any kind of training done on the Stages Dash. for a bike computer “Designed for performance and training” this seems like an awkward place to be…

EDIT: For anyone that finds themselves confused by my comment - I had a Link premium account and let it lapse. I came back a few months later and the option to pay was gone. All features to create or use pre-existing STAGES workouts were gone.

EDIT 2: Solution - Upon creating a new account (completely fresh, new email) All the options for paying for Premium and designing or generating workouts are back.

Well the answer is YES!. With the new Stages Cycling App, you can connect your TR account to Stages Cycling and outdoor workouts appear in the app, and on your Stages Dash device. Confirmed to work for me on my Dash M50 unit. Successfully ridden a TR workout today and the completed workout uploaded to TR, and I got the progression level credits I deserved  .

There is even a “Push to Stages” button on the TR website when the link between Stages Cycling and TR is established.

[edit]

TR is now described as a workout source in the Stages Cycling Manual:

TrainerRoad

Connect TrainerRoad with the Stages Cycling app to:

Send completed activities
Receive workouts from TrainerRoad directly to your Dash

Ooof….that is not gonna sit well with Hammerhead users if the Karoo 2 still can’t do Outdoor Workouts but the Stages can. :astonished:

Isn’t it to do with the other end? i.e. Wahoo took ages to action a fix for something. Presumably due to competition but who knows.

Hammerhead might be too busy doing other things?

Yeah, I have no idea…I just know that it has been a huge frustration for HH users. Definitely wasn’t pointing the finger at the TR crew.

Is anyone using one of these new DASH units (either the L200 or M200)?

I’ve updated the L200 and ridden it again for a few days… and… well… I’m keen to hear if anyone else has one and their take on things.
