New Feature - TrainNow

In my recovery week now and opened up trainnow to see what it recommended and saw this one…

“While this can serve as a recovery workout” haha Erm oké…

LOL YIKES! Bringing that to the attention of the team. Thanks for the heads up!

Haha Thnx. It wasn’t presented to me as a recovery z2 ride. But the text could use a little edit :joy::joy:.

Thanks for jumping in on this thread - it still seems like I’m not seeing the kinds of really well-tailored suggestions I did for a couple days prior to the support ticket I had to fix FTP sync - since then, I’ve been reverted to the examples below that have been pretty persistent for me in the suggestion rotation.

I’m not sure what progression level Grassy Ridge is, but it’s surely well below Bashful + 6 and Baird + 6 that I did in the past week. Similarly, the climbing suggestions are often greatly reduced versions of ones that I’ve just recently completed in the past 1-2 weeks and had no trouble with, so it seems that something is still stuck. Fang - 3 is the toughest one that comes up - most are far easier than that, despite doing the +1 of this last week.

One caveat is that I’ve done most of them via outside workouts that were planned/exported to BOLT ahead of time and show the correct association after upload - some were done inside, some were done outside. My understanding is that TrainNow and AT should be interpreting those TR outside structured rides, correct?

And I think we’ve established in this thread that TrainNow will not attempt to judge your current fatigue in biasing the suggestions up or down, right?

I’ve restarted my app, etc. so I can run it by support if this scenario should be giving me something different now. Just didn’t want to bug them with questions on a known issue that was still being patched.

Normally, as long as its an associated TrainerRoad outside workout that’s pushed to your head unit prior to completion, it will be considered for progressions.
However, there’s a bug we are currently experiencing where outside workouts pushed to Wahoo head units aren’t affecting progressions :sob: This could be for sure why your progressions aren’t looking quite right if you’re doing a considerable number of outdoor workouts. Not to worry, its on our radar and we’re working on a fix!

Here’s where we are re: fatigue:

You’re never bothering us! The more opportunities we have to take a closer look at what athlete’s are being recommended, the better we are as a team at identifying issues and implementing fixes.

I do think that your instance of odd progressions has to do with that aforementioned Wahoo bug, so I expect you’ll see better suggestions from TrainNow once that’s updated. Sorry for the trouble!

OK - I sent my observations to support just before I saw your latest edit - but you mentioned a Wahoo bug? As I understood, the bug was related to FTP adjustments clearing the history.

That being said, I did also just update my Wahoo Bolt yesterday as well so if they have their own separate issue going on I’m out of the loop on that one and hopefully that will somehow fix itself - combined with ANT troubleshooting on the android beta app, and trying to run in parallel with Rouvy, every workout is feeling like a never ending tech battle lately that is adding way too much “cognitive load”

Support confirmed that TR outside workouts on wahoo are not registering correctly at the moment so they won’t be considered for adjusting progression levels for trainnow recommendations. (I’d guess same applies for AT as well) And that is my primary place I run TR.

I guess I managed to hit this and the ftp bug back to back!

OOF sorry to hear that, glad the support team was able to confirm, though. We’re working on some better visibility for bugs/announcements/FAQs for these newer features to help prevent further confusion, thanks for your patience while we sort that out! :v:

seems Wahoo had some major problems in the last weeks with syncs: Strava, Komoot, TR… plenty of issues. at least in my case (komoot) all seems to work properly again as of today.

Hi guys, sorry if this question has already been asked (I cannot find the answer in the thread).

I am on the beta version but am not prompted with the QUESTIONNAIRE at the end of my ride. So I wonder if this functionality is not yet enabled?

For clarification, I am on the Build Plan.
Thanks TR. You guys rock !
Rolf

You have to have been accepted into the Adaptive Training beta test group to get the ride questions.

The TrainNow feature is open to anyone with the beta app loaded, but thats not a sign you are in the other beta test group.

Clear as mud?

Is this happening for indoor TR workouts? Outside TR workouts? Inside non-TR workouts? Outside non-TR workouts?

To help debug, please specify which of the above conditions the ride fits into, and a link to the specific ride(s).

There have been issues with the post ride survey and non-TR outside rides.

One workaround if you successfully completed the workout is to click on the three ellipses and select change survey response

You must be in the AT beta for the questions. The beta iOS/Android app is separate.

What’s the criteria for acceptance?. It makes sense that at this stage they want people that ride a lot indoor at a minimum. H

I’m not certain what they are using. I’ve seen that it may be random from those that applied to other comments from TR rep. Buried in one of these threads is a link to comments from Nate and the Product Manager, and they differed slightly.

So I’m fuzzy on the answer.

Edit to add a link to the post I mentioned. See this and the one right below 8t to add to the confusion.

Thanks for the replies. I understand now: even though I have updated the TR app (which is now showing the new design) and I “signed up” for adaptive training, my account has not been enabled for adaptive training. TR might not be able yet to handle the volume in the beta version.

… so, back to Ramp Test, I guess.

@Nate_Pearson Loving this TN feature and used for the past week. The beta app with my Neo bike is so awesome. Work travel next week but then polarized scheduled for now but will use TN as substitute.

My workout today as I am just getting back at it with covid a month or so back and new job.

Just do a sweet spot workout and knock off some % so it’s at tempo?

So, is the trainnow ai on? Or for people not in adaptive training is giving random wo?

I’m asking because this morning I tried to let the function pick a attack wo for me… Every single one of them was so different…length of the interval, amount of intervals, rest between intervals… Etc… I didn’t see a cohesive pattern… Am I missing something?

Yep, for all users it’s using your Progression Level for the relevant power zone, and choosing an assortment of different workouts appropriate to that level and at your specified duration. The thing that’s tying all those workouts together is Difficulty Level, which isn’t yet publicly visible. Difficulty levels use a combination of different factors to quantify the real-world challenge of a workout, and are a way to compare the actual experience of workouts with differing interval structures, rest periods, and interval lengths.
