In the past my plan would maintain intensity but reduce the duration of my workouts on the week of my A or B races. Looks like my current plan has me scheduled for a 90 minute long suprathreshold workout a few days before doing the 200 at Unbound which doesn’t ideal for fatigue. It’s still a couple months away so it might change but i’m also seeing the same for a B race that i have in a month. Has anyone else seen this and what are your thoughts?
Last year I was doing 45 minute intervals with good intensity the week of Unbound.
Right now, A race tapers adapt to be shorter once they get into the AI Simulation window, but don’t display these shorter durations when they’re further out on your calendar. This is a known visual bug and we have a fix in the pipeline. You’ll see shorter workouts as these get closer.
We don’t currently schedule tapers for B races: by definition, these are less important races that don’t alter your training schedule as much. For B races I like to use Alternates to choose shorter workouts during the week of the event.
