Masters Plans and More Launched Today! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Great podcast @Nate_Pearson , loved all the details about updates, but dear god, have a shave :joy::joy::joy:
For the green/red light does it only factor in TR workouts or do other rides (with power), other rides (without power), runs, swims get factored in too?

I.e. I cycle and run…would the runs be factored in for green/red light days or would system ignore I’d done 3 runs that week as well as TR rides?

Important thing for triathletes/duathletes/people who cross train.

Even if had to mark runs as easy/medium/hard and duration to help system appropriate the stress of it.

Great stuff! Thanks @Nate_Pearson and team!

Request: I know Maters Plans dont yet apply to triathlon plans, this is unrelated to masters. In the meantime, could you update the triathlon plans to be able to select to display (or specifically not display) the run and swim portions of the plans. I would like to keep the bike, turn off the run (as I do my own tailored to my work schedule and β€œB” run races) , and turn off the swim seasonally until spring.

Suggestion: Raising prices. The psychology of a 5-10% raise over multiple years to get to the 30% is probably an easier sell especially when you give updates like this latest insight into the behind the scenes work at TR.

Full respect if he’s grown that in 9 days for Movember :astonished:

You could extend the warmup and cool down of that interval ride to get this same effect. Have you tried that?

Here’s my goal. My Honest Reaction Big Mustache GIF - My Honest Reaction Big Mustache - Discover & Share GIFs

Right now RLGL factors in any ride with a power meter or HR monitor. We’re working on runs now, then swims after that.

You make a good point. If we get RLGL with outdoor ride support, new calendar, and new plan builder…would we be worth $1 to $2 more per month?

100% !!
but roll it out the optional upcharge as 10% this year, then 10% next year or something similar. I could go from 99/yr (total bargain btw) to 109/yr to 119/yr then 129/yr then 139/yr. Then, in 4 yr you have a 40% up charge. that would be easier for me and many loyalists who want to see TR continue to grow and develop. The options to pay more were limited. I β€œfelt” like it was pay way more or pay way way more. Allow me to commit to supporting TR incrementally. $10 more per year, 2 cups of Starbucks, right?. then the next year the same, and then again. … much like TR levels
I do think if you opt into the graduated charge (at minimum) you get something extra. Like TR tri plans with the ability to display any or all of the run, bike , swim disciplines on the calendar at any time. OR the ability to sync with STRYD stress score. I would 100% pay 15-30/mo if TR could be the ultimate TSS compiler and AI plan bulilder for 1,2, or 3 disciplines with RLGL.

Yeah, I guess that’s true. I could turn off Erg, extend the opening interval, set my own target, and ignore the ramps prior to the meat of the workout.

Alternatively you could leave it in erg and just adjust intensity upwards to keep where you want and then adjust back too 100% when the extension is ending

Can you change the workout durations when currently working through a plan? As I do low volume but like all my 3 workouts to be 90mins.
Also I don’t want a rest week every 4weeks is it best to just clear this week and add in my own workouts? I guess now il just rest every 8th week instead

Yeah, but that would be harder because you’d have to adjust every interval. Much easier to just leave it in resistance and pedal at your chose wattage.

-$2 per mth and would consider it.

Touch more value and your current pricing might be worth it

Yes.

Compare it the cost of a coach from training peaks; TR is a great value.

I think the biggest advantage of a coach is if you’re the type of person who tries to understand everything.

Ive got a degree in biochem and pchem, raced bmx in the pro class for years (and won some big nats in the A pro class), plus raced XC in my teens as a cat1. Fast forward 15 years of riding BmX, MTB XC & enduro with the last 3 years training endurance and having used 2 coaches.

Understanding it all and making it useful aint easy, plus all the β€œscience” in cycling has a small sample size and gets mythicized with the latest new trends.

My point is Ive got alot of experience on 2 wheels. After spending thousands on coaches I realized Im doing basically the same shit TR would’ve prescribed.

The two things I’ve experienced the most is:

  1. Overtraining from not rating workouts right causing too high of a ramp rate
  2. thinking my ftp should be higher getting me
Bummed cause I’m used to being on the podium and progress on endurance is slow AF.

If you can turn your brain off, answer the surveys honestly then all you have to do is put in the work, eat, and get good rest.

And yes, an extra $2 or $25 annual is worth it.

@Nate_Pearson

Fantastic roll out and your recent podcast looping users in is downright brilliant and highly effective!

I know multisport is not yet available - for those us Masters looking forward to that down the road, how do you suggest we proceed next spring for 70.3 training 1) use plan builder but adapt manually (my current method) or 2) use new Masters sustained power build and throw in our own swims/runs?

This, 100%

Is it possible to substitute the traditional base plans in on plan builder yet? Not seeing the option on mobile

Yes. I’m on monthly now, and I’d go to annual and pay more for it. With that combo, including AI FTP, where else would I go?

Good catch! This was an oversight and I just added these to the plan options. They should be available now in Plan Builder and from the Base phase annotation dropdown on Calendar if you’d like to switch one out.
