Stupid as stupid does
So anyway, I’m surprised no one has commented on one of the most bizarre, sad, and hilarious tidbits in this story: she escapes to Costa Rica and just went to all these yoga classes while on the lam.
“…:a paper trail of yoga classes” has NEVER been in an episode of Fall Guy. Until now. ![]()
Because that’s what I do. Run from 1st degree murder charges by going to yoga. ![]()

Wow
Usually the individual has to put up collateral worth the full bond in case they run.
*My dad was a bail bondsman for many years. Got himself a couple of cars, boats and other items from skips.
I read that in the Velonews article. It seems like she was filling time, not sure what to do.
Yeah, I get it. You’re at a new place and you have to find something to do. But that’s when you’re on vacation or move to a new place. When I have a pending murder charge (I would think), I would find a way to keep a lower profile. Maintaining my “practice” would be the least of my worries:
I would stare at the wall. Watch the internet. Something ![]()
the whole thing is just sad. So many lives ruined. For what? Because she was jealous?
I get that jealousy can make people crazy. Remember the astronaut lady that drove in diapers to go see her ex?
That said, the mental resiliency of the entire world, especially the US, is going down the tubes. School shootings, mass depression, anxiety, etc etc.
Sure logically, she should have disappeared into the forest. She should have learned to become a sailor and gotten on a boat to some far off place.
She was living in a hostel with 8 people to a room which tells me she was low on money.
I just think she was at the end of her rope waiting for them to come and get her.
I don’t know about others, but I feel a little strange with two of my personal struggles - depression and anxiety - being grouped in with school shootings and a murder that appears to stem from a deceptive partner. I think I see where you are coming from and do agree that our collective minds need a lot of healing. Just caution from adding to the stigma that already exists for mental illness.
Do people who shoot up schools and commit other heinous crimes not have mental health issues?
Lots of partners are deceptive… few of these deceptions result in a murder. I would bet a good chunk of change this person is on medication.
Are you sure that I don’t have mental health issues myself which would encourage me to say that the mental health worldwide is getting worse?
I didn’t lump you or anyone else into anything.
Just a reminder to keep on topic here. The prior topic on this subject was closed for OT discussion. If you want this one to remain open, keep that in mind and please post accordingly.
Yep. Right now it’s more salacious than anything else. The more details that emerge (including other individuals indirect involvement), it will just be sad.
This is the only time my non-cycling friends have engaged me to discuss anything remotely cycling related besides “so do you HAVE TO wear the tight clothes? I mean, really”.
I’m not sure why they think I would have more insight.
New details emerge on Armstrong…I don’t think things look too good for her sister right now, either.
Also, Strickland first lied about knowing Wilson when first contacted by police.
Wild…I hope someone goes to jail for aiding
This is the craziest story I have read in quite a while. All the more interesting as it’s more than tangentially related to cycling.
I find it hard to believe that she had access to the $450G. If she did, she should have put it in a suitcase and disappeared into the woods for a while. Get on a boat and sail away… She was living in a hostel with 8 others in the room.
I’m surprised that Strickland had $450G to give/loan her! I didn’t realize that gravel paid so well.
It seems like the $450k may have been related to their trailer restoration business. If it’s in a bank, she’s probably not making a cash withdrawal and walking around with nearly half a mil in a briefcase.
Every time an article comes out with more information, this story gets crazier and crazier.
100%
It’s amazing how dumb people can be
It’s also amazing how crazy people can be.
As I sit here, this whole thing reads like Hollywood. I can’t imagine people actually doing these things!
And these were cyclists. I know cyclists are people too, but to me they seem a little more grounded or down to earth.
It’s a wild world. Sometimes I feel pretty naïve
Seriously. We: dress in Spandex and sit on ass hatchets for six hours a day often riding in large groups on narrow roads trusting other people we don’t know to not do anything stupid at 30mph while showing off the variously gruesome looking collarbones and AC joints we now possess at coffee shops where we sit for another hour postride in sweaty kits while God knows what organisms are growing in our nether regions; and/or descend large mountains on plastic framed bicycles at high speed with naught but a plastic helmet protecting us, willfully taking deciduous trees to the face at 30mph because “full send”.
Totally grounded group, we are.
