I don’t think that’s the case. I think its because it wants to prescribe a polarized training plan and if you have restricted hours available to train it will struggle to do that. I mean its either longer duration or higher intensity. As per the TR time crunched style of training.

You can change availability in 2 ways. Either you change the assumed availability until goal date or you can also change only for first week and leave remainder unchanged.

So maybe you were changing it for the entire period, leading to not enough hours to progress, but it could still be that short term you need a rest.

I’ve got 3 rest days prescribed next week! I remember reading somewhere it take your age into account and as I’m nearer 70 than 60 that might have something to do with it. I also failed on a couple of the sprints in a workout last week and said that it was very hard. The message from them was that they’ll take that into account going forward.

There isn’t an option to change availability for next week only for me. There is only “this day” or “complete week”.

To be honest, the user interface is a bit confusing, I think they kept adding features, but didn’t have a good idea where to put them.

He said current week, not next week…

Yes the “this day” option is what I was referring to. So you leave coming weeks unchanged.

Looks interesting although I dont fancy doing ftp tests any more

Join also gives you an eFTP that you can then choose to plug into the FTP setting.

Signed up and had a look, does look interesting entered a 1 day event i’m doing next May and it appears to plan towards it in a similar fashion to my TR plan. Tried exporting todays workout to Garmin though and doesn’t transport across. Do like the ability to do a ride with friends and the plan adapts though I miss a lot of group rides as i’m sticking to my TR plan. Hoping TR progression levels V2 will be soon.

May take another look once my yearly TP account is up for renewal next year.

Exporting to Garmin, you still need to put it on the calendar in Garmin Connect, before it appears on the head unit.

Exporting to Training Peaks (linked to Garmin) automatically brings it in the Garmin head unit.

But can you skip the FTP test? I looked at the app, maybe too quickly, and I couldn’t find an option to do that.

I had one FTP test scheduled in the first week, which I totally messed up at and stopped early. I just uploaded that ride and manually set the FTP using the eFTP figures so far.

So I guess you can always upload any ride as the FTP test and then manually set FTP yourself.

Did you give app aurhorisation to connect with Garmin connect?

Then after that, in Join you have to “export”, then pick Garmin. Then in Garmin connect, you have to go to workouts, and pick the device to transfer to. Then it downloads to the device once you sync it with Garmin connect.

The TP route is a bit smoother.

Hi, yes I authorised, and clicked on the export to Garmin bit on the app. It said it did but then doesn’t appear in Garmin like TR does.

ah I see yes go to workouts and its there. Not quite as smooth as TR but looks like it works.

I haven’t yet had an FTP test forced on me by the app, but on other workouts you can hit the “circular arrows” on the right corner of it and choose to “Shuffle workout”, “Choose workout”, “Performance test”, or “No availability this day”. Does that work to skip it?

Do you think it’s a real eFTP?

By that, I mean, it seems to me to be moving based in CTL or whatever, not based off any measured or estimated increase in fitness.

Mines gone up 2W but, I haven’t done anything that would prompt an eFTP change on any other calculation/platform.

It seems to me they’re pretty keen on executing FTP tests, I have been suggested a couple times.

Think it wants you to do a test at the start of the training block, but then I don’t think it will schedule another.

I’m really interested to see if the predicted FTP increase is actually true. It thinks I’ve added 7W, which is just moving out of the confidence zone of my PM. Still have about 8 weeks to the end of my plan, so going to test after that. I’ve never managed to increase my FTP with any training before, lol.

Just use TR’s automatic FTP

I don’t know how it works, and I have also seen it change after an endurance ride, which is strange.
For what it’s worth, intervals.icu and Join, both currently show me an eFTP of 267W.
