Is Training Peaks Virtual Integration With TrainerRoad Possible in the Future?

Now that TrainerRoad and Zwift have integrated workouts that can now take place on Zwift, is it possible that this same functionality will have a chance of taking place on Training Peaks Virtual? I was unsure if Zwift had an exclusive on TrainerRoad integration or once the number of subscribers increased dramatically on Training Peaks Virtual, there would be a possibility of TrainerRoad and Training Peaks Virtual could or would be integrated so we can perform our TrainerRoad workouts on TPV.

Hey!

At this time, we don’t have plans to change how TrainerRoad and TrainingPeaks integrate. We appreciate you sharing the idea!

As you likely know (but for other athletes who might come accross this thread at a later date), you can already sync your TrainerRoad workouts to TrainingPeaks by connecting your accounts through the Activity Sync page on TrainerRoad!

The OP isn’t asking about syncing rides with TP, they are asking about having TR workouts synced to TPV, as just started with Zwift, so that the workout can be done in the TrainingPeaks Virtual app, in addition to Zwift.

The original poster is asking about Training Peaks Virtual in a similar fashion as you have incorporated Zwift. Not syncing workouts from TrainingPeaks to TR.

Thanks for pointing out that my response wasn’t clear!

I wanted to clarify that we sync with TrainingPeaks for other people who might come accross this thread at a later date. The second part of my resopnse is addressing the question about Training Peaks Virtual more specifically. We do not have plans to do this right now. :+1:

It would be great if you did. Exclusive functionality for ‘special’ partners is never a good thing for the customer base.

One of the ‘interesting’ bits that might need to be solved if integrating with multiple platforms is this (and maybe there’s already a solution which I just haven’t figured out):

I recently manually created some of my upcoming TR workouts in TP, because I wanted to see the prospective fitness view that TP provides. But after creating the workouts, and adding them to my TP calendar, I ended up with duplicate workouts showing on my TR calendar (though, interestingly, no proposed adaptations to my plan, despite showing twice as many workouts), and TRIPLE the workouts in Zwift (the two now showing in TR, plus the one coming from TP). Not ideal.

I couldn’t find a way to sync TP and Zwift for individual aspects (e.g. sync my Zwift rides to TP, but don’t sync my TP workouts to Zwift), so I just had to delete them all from my TP calendar.

In order to synch to TPV, TR would have to synch the planned ride structure to TP, which then allows you to do the workout in TPV. Historically, TR has not been willing to do this. They only synch COMPLETED workouts.

It is a simple question of demand….and there just aren’t that many people using TPv, period, let alone that are looking to synch with TR.

It likely isn’t worth the resource commitment to such the two……if TPv can eventually gain enough users to be a major platform, that could change.

And the same goes for all the other platforms….Rouvy, Fulham, whomever. The user base simply isn’t there to warrant the development.

I would normally agree, but historically, TR has not been willing to send workouts to TP, so I think that’s the issue here (regardless of whether TPV existed or not).

Yeah, I think the fact that TR and TP are somewhat competitors definitely complicates the issue….but I also thought that about Zwift, too, so who knows what may happen in the future. :man_shrugging:

Historically, but the zwift integration has changed that.

There might be some caveats to how the integration is done (e.g. you can’t actually access the workout file, which TR seem to want to keep locked down), but George could have that coded in a week. TPV is maintaining an open approach to integrations - they have most the same functionality for intervals.icu as they do for TrainingPeaks, which is undoubtedly TPs biggest threat.

I don’t think this is true. I guess we’ll see!
