Most reports say the van Rysel tests well….and is an excellent value. If I was in the EU, I’d give it a hard look.
Thanks. I dont think you an go wrong with the evade. Its just the value. Even if its in the same ballpark as the evade im gonna go for it. Thanks.
I cant see any, just one that said it tested …okish.
Would anyone hav a link to performance tests?
Im gonna answer my own q here but the below is what i did find and its enough for me.
Theres more content on youtube than what I could find via google but im gonna go with it and maybe upgrade if im timetriallimg more in a year or two.
Giro Eclipse is one of my favourites too. I really like the Giro Spherical system, because the inside of the helmet is much cleaner and more comfortable.
I’ve been extremely pleased with the Scott Cadence for the last year. Ventilated enough to use it year round on the road bike (except heat waive alpine climbing type of rides) and on the XC roughly from October to May. Also tested very fast on the Cycling News group test, very close to the Evade (4th overall and the 2nd fastest “normal” helmet). The vent plugs are also awesome in winter
There’s links in the thread below. Not the fastest but was enough to convince me given the bang for the buck. Haven’t noticed issues with cooling, but then I live in Ireland…
Anyone got a HJC Furion 3.0? Just ordered one on sale, curious to see how that is.
I recently purchased the Scott centric plus, I ride gravel and mtb. It’s not the most aero helmet but fits my needs in the humid/ Florida. It’s also rated with 5 stars on the Virginia tech helmet test ratings.
I had never heard of HJC before, so I went to their “about us”. The marketing team who wrote this really went deep:
HJC SPORTS is about the moment, finding one’s self again, in a leap of escape from artificial boundaries and into self-restoration, self-acceptance, balance and peace, and in a flow of harmony with all that surrounds us.
For the moment, we are aware of our sense of self in the presence and in spontaneous moments. The value of life is not in the blurry, mindless, cycles of repetition; the value of life starts from awareness of the soul in the moment. When you are truly aware of your feelings in the moment, with appreciation, you are truly alive.
For The Moment, let us ride….!
Wow. Had I read that I’d probably passed up on that sale .
That is some deep ChatGPT gobbly-gook!!
It sounds like the profile of the random girls who follow you on Strava
Helmet finally arrived yesterday and I got my first ride in today. Luckily, it fits my head and is super comfortable. It wasn’t terribly hot today, but it was sunny and got into the 80’s and it seems to ventilate well. You can feel the air pushing over your head when moving at speed. Will be interesting to see how it does in real summer heat when climbing at low speeds.
For anyone shopping, I got the helmet on sale at wheelworld. I’ve never bought anything from them before and was getting a little concerned after waiting almost 3 weeks for the helmet to arrive. But they are legit, free shipping, and didn’t charge me sales tax. I saved $100 compared to buying direct from specialized (or my local store). Several other places had a similar price on the helmet, but with limited colors/sizes.
In typical specialized fashion, they had to add some silly bling with the s-works lettering inside the helmet in brushed metal recessed into the foam. Just added cost and weight that I assume serves no functional purpose, I hate that kind of crap. I guess you have to do something to justify a $300 retail price.
