🎉🎉🎉 Introducing AI FTP Detection 🎉🎉🎉

I was able to enable the setting. I dropped a Ramp Test on my calendar for today and when I go into my Android app and open the Ramp Test workout, after about 10 seconds, the app shuts down.

BUT, when I go into the Calendar, the “Use FTP Detection” shows up and it’s suggesting an increase. I expect an increase but wasn’t sure about the magnitude. Should I suffer and see if I can beat the estimation!?

I had an FTP test due Monday - but was thinking of manually just updating it from 280 to 290. Dragged it to today instead and AI detection estimated 291, 3.9% increase.

This should take a few minutes at most. We’ll look into this right now. Same for you @Nathan. It can take a while to process all your data on the first run, but it shouldn’t take THAT long. I’ll see if I can get an answer for you asap. In the meantime, keep me posted if this changes. Thanks!

Similar story here, am in the final week of SSBMV1 and knew I’d had some improvement from 270 - was going to either go with 275, go with 280, or do the ramp. I was leaning towards 275 as it felt right and in the past my feeling usually lines up fairly well with where the ramp ends up.

The estimation put me at 277

Seems perfect to me. Great job to the whole team.

Deleted the ramp test, re-added, it worked. Not sure if it was coincidental timing or if the delete/add changed it

This is helpful information. Thank you!

I had a ramp test scheduled for today (moved from yesterday when it was supposed to happen).

I first checked the prediction and then did the ramp test to compare:

Previous FTP: 186

AI FTP Detection prediction: 190 (+2.2%)

Ramp Test: 192 (+3.2%)

Two weeks ago I was sick, did none of the prescribed workouts, just an easy one towards the end of the week. Then this past week was all endurance workouts, maybe that had something to do with the prediction being slightly lower than the ramp test result. Still, the detection (or prediction) would have been good enough to adjust the training in my opinion

Count me as massively impressed. I really don’t ramp test well - under-test, by a lot, all the time. The estimate I got is within 2% of the number I’ve been using for the last 2 months. Really nice. Bye, ramp tests… see you later… like never…

For those who get the “hang tight” message, I had it for approx 10 mins. I did something else, came back, tried again and it worked.

I just tested at 240 a few days ago. To me, this felt a tad low, given that I’ve had some long 3-4 hour rides where I held a NP of 230 without issue. With the release of FTP detection, I decided to delete that ramp test and see what the AI had in store for me. TR predicted a FTP of 252 for me. This was a 9% increase of my previously tested FTP of 231.

Well, I just did my first workout with the new FTP. It was a productive SS workout. It felt great! It was tough but not to the point where I was dying.

Thank you Amber and team!

Is there a Venmo account where we can donate beer money to Amber and her team for a job well done?

Are you going to process an Estimate for your next AMA @ambermalika ? Bound to come up :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

FYI @Nathan was able to fix this by deleting the Ramp Test and then adding it back again. We’re looking into it, but that might work in the meantime!

Up 4.4%. I’ve been using an estimate. Ramp test never worked for me. Happy camper!

LOL! Fun fact: I used this feature to predict my FTP when getting back on the bike postpartum. I did NOT want to do a Ramp Test, and it predicted my FTP decrease amazingly well!

LOLOL!!

TR Engineers while trying to deploy it this morning.

TR Engineers after it launched.

I just did an 8 minute FTP test last night but it froze at the end and didn’t update my FTP so I had to manually calculate and update. Is there any way to undo a manual FTP change so I can give the estimator a try or will I need to wait the two weeks now?

Open your FTP history in your account on the TR website, and delete the most recent FTP change entry.

After that, follow the steps above and you should be able to get the estimate.

Ah thank you! I couldn’t find that and thought that only deleting a ramp test would work. Since my ftp didn’t come from the test I thought I was out of luck.
