Had a test scheduled for tomorrow, so had the option as the “next workout”. Probably marginally lower than I was going to guestimate, but within 2 watts of what my garmin 530 gave me as a “new ftp” last week.
A feature I would love to see is the ability to look at your AI-detected FTP on any previous date. For example, I did a ramp test last year where I really think I underperformed based on the sessions I had been doing before the test. I ended up getting ill and lost all my fitness so I will never know what could have been. The year before that, I didn’t use TR and all I had was outdoor rides, where I never had perfect conditions for an FTP test so I have no idea how fit I was then either. Is this something you think you’d ever release?
Awesome addition to our training tool. This will be awesome during the specialty phase as that did not have ramp test included.
Got a bump from 247 to 259 (5%) today.
PLs dropped accordingly and next benchmark is a 2.6 threshold workout on Sunday which looks manageable.
Goddard also looks relatively easy, replaced it for round bald-2 (3x12min at 85% ftp) which I know will be in the lower third of “hard” (yes, I segment the post workout survey in thirds ;-))
Long story short:
Old ftp was right for 5.5 threshold work.
New ftp will be right for 2.6 threshold work.
Question is:
How do I (unexperienced as I am) know, if it was better to push the levels up (and thereby improve tte I would assume?) or to go with level 2-3 workouts?
Short answer: If I want to be more diesel-ish stick with old ftp, if I want to be more punchy, go for new ftp. About right?
I got to use the feature today (yay thank TR team!), and got a 1.1%, 3w, improvement. I had adaptations pending, and accepted those. The workout for today which was not listed in the adaptations changed as well. I’d be fine with it, but it went from what I believe is a hard coded ride to Needham SS 9.6. I emailed support so they know too, but I’m thinking I should change back to the original workout, or at most a productive one for my PLs (somewhere around 5.5).
This will be interesting. I am in the middle of a 2-week trip for work so I’m effectively off the bike (hotel gyms workouts and outside walking). I get back on day one of my rest week. My FTP is the following Monday. From what I’m reading, AI FTP detection SHOULD be able to handle it (I’ve had consistent training since Oct/Nov 2021 on this plan.). I’m looking forward to see how bad the damage is from the 2-weeks of non-cycling.
Posted previously about short illness right before recovery week and skipping 2 workouts (but feeling strong before it).
So I got +5W. Going to accept it because:
- Ego boost
- Seems valid
- I think I need a full workout now because it has been a while since the last hard one.
- Felt good on the recovery week.
- For the science.

Is it OK that AT tries to replace Goddard (which replaced the ramp test) with a much harder workout?
I had the same thing happen this morning. Which did it assign to you?
Big Fodderstack (5.3), but it looks like it depends on your progression level (mine is 5.1 for Sweet Spot).
I sent a note to support, but sharing here - 3w 1.3% increase detected. FTP and PLs updated in app. Not on web.
Before I manually adjust the web FTP, was curious if that was intended. And should I get the same PL changes if I update the web?
EDIT: resetting app and then chrome browser updated everything appropriately…
TR ain’t Zwift…
Similar here. It gave me Priceless (SS 6.6) and my PL is 5.0. That ramp test isn’t looking too bad right now. Kidding, of course.
It crossed my mind as well lmao. Not sure I’ll be doing a 9.6 SS haha.
I’m 60 and feeling it nowadays. Adaptive Training adjusts the workplans exactly as I need. It’s been brilliant for me. And with no more ramp tests, this could be Christmas every day!
Thanks! We’ll look into this!
I just got bumped from 345 to 356w which is insane jump. I have Starr King-1 tomorrow and don’t really see myself completing 12 mins at FTP…
I had to accept the bump though… coz u know.
i have the same issue here, my AI didn’t adapt, so i have stretch workouts over the next few days…which look impossible for now. Let me know if you find anything out.
EDIT: I reset my app and all my workouts refreshed to something more managable!!!
Just finished 5 weeks of training, starting a rest week. Used this feature to see where it would put me, but I was planning on manually adjusting my ftp up regardless.
+10w, exactly the number I was going to bump it up. Impressive.
