How do we convince @Nate_Pearson the change would be good :wink:

You should gain access to the new filter tools once you are accepted into the beta group.

It’s similar for me. Guess the mental aspects plays a role there too. I can knock-out sweetspot work on any given day. Though give me a poor day at work or a fight with the misses and threshold or VO2 max are pure agony.

Hi there,

Done much reading but haven’t spotted anything on how it handles when you miss a session one day, but you might be able to do it the day later. Normally I’d just move the Thursday session over to Friday for example.

Would that still be the correct thing to do? Does it do something more clever to account for the fact you’re now doing to tougher sessions back to back (e.g. Fri and Sat)?

Thanks

@SeanHurley

I am a bunch of podcasts behind but had to jump ahead to hear about AT. Very exciting stuff. If it works, it is like one giant ongoing study, that will eventually give results applicable to everyone as individuals, rather than mostly people in the bell curve from a short term study with a small, almost never ideal subject pool.

As another feature I would like to see an option for a “short term” focus on a particular energy system using AT. For example, I want to improve VO2max over 4 weeks as a focus, or build a base over 6 weeks etc. I don’t want a plan that takes me from a start date to an event date, rather this is what I want to work on right now.

Predictions:

The overall trend of average IF of compliant plans & workouts will decline;
The overall trend of compliant plans & workouts will increase.

TR will morph into ‘compliancy’ (vs ‘performance’) and retain more users.
The company will rebrand as a fitness platform.

In the end, TR will succeed in producing a more active and healthy population.

Not bad for a dude who used to do ‘Saturday Night Fever’ style slot machine ads. :wink:

I also pause my workouts in between intervals but not for recovery. I do my workouts on rollers and have a hard time eating while riding. So, I’ll nail my interval then in between stop eat, drink and start again. I try to be as quick as possible. Will the ML think I’m struggling and then change my future workouts?

This is a GREAT point, and I hope TR considers. Down the road, with Zwift adjustments to the way the pace partner feature works, I could see myself being motivated to hold the wheel, or try to beat, the pace partner that was riding at the prescribed power of an interval. I might go a little deeper if it’s the difference between visually getting dropped or not. I know everyone’s different, but in my case I think this would up the engagement (and maybe lower RPE) over holding the number alone. They kind of mentioned this effect in the podcast when they talked about how you may go harder on the hill when riding with another rider or in a group than you will when alone. I kind of love the idea of riding against my somewhat fitter self while attempting a “Breakthrough” ride. And if the pace partner can be configured to relay Coach Chad’s workout text at me during the ride, all the better :slight_smile: Great job TR Team. Really looking forward to the new features.

The post workout survey will ask you why, and you can tell it that it had nothing to do with the effort level, and no unnecessary adaptation will occur. That’s been the answer several times in this thread for multiple questions about pausing workouts.

That’s very interesting. So, accordingly to each individual training history and workouts surveys, etc… each workout day can be adjusted for that individual.

On a VO2max actual workout with 120% intervals, can be effectively 112% for a particular individual at some point in time, but maybe on other time that exactly workout can be suggested with 117% intervals in the future for the same individual, right?

Also, how it handle fatigue management? Let’s say that an individual is on a 3rd week of a plan, and there some hard workout coming on that week. Based on the previous weeks workouts performances (and survey answers, how workouts run, HR figures, etc…), there could be signs that would make TR suggest a more “light” week to avoid later burnout in the future? Example: individual have today a threshold workout, but TR “thinks” he is tired, so recommend a swap of that workout and suggests a recovery or endurance workout (or simply skip that day)?

Cheers

Why not just highlight and type in the percent you want?

I totally agree, and I think that got mentioned in our open Feature Request related to this issue.

But would be worth having you add it there just to be sure, if you’d like to do that. :smiley:

Why not just ride resistance mode and pedal harder?

Because options are good. People like and use different modes for different reasons.

I’d hope it tells you it’s time to take new FTP test.

The wait to get on the beta is excruciating!

I would love to see what AT would do with my workout today. I’m on Sustained Power Build MV and did Raymond +7 (4x8min at 108%, 5 minute breaks; then 20 minutes of endurance). I finished the first 3 intervals clean, but for the fourth I turned it down to 96% IF and required a 20s pause with about 2 minutes to go. After the pause I put the IF back up to 100% and finished. For context I completed the analogous workout last week Red Lake +8 totally fine.

So curious what AT would do with this kind of result!

Really curious if I’m going to be waiting days, weeks or months for access.

OP was talking about TrainNow, which is not at all the same as having a race goal and using a plan to peak for it.

The existing plans are progressive. However, the progression is based on how you MAY respond to the training - it can’t adapt to how you ARE responding. This is the gap that hopefully these adaptive features will fill.

Hope to be included in the next couple weeks. Is that too optimistic?

Not sure anyone knows. The first group was added yesterday and I’ve seen bugs reported and tackled by the team. No idea how long that goes before they grab more people?
