šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ Introducing Adaptive Training! šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰ šŸŽ‰

I wish I had snagged a screen shot of the survey to see all the options again. Maybe someone else has it or TR can share the options.

I’m curious to re-read them, since I was smashed the 2 times I had it and don’t remember all the choices. I can’t even remember of its a duplicate of the Struggle survey or something different.

Only one way too find out :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m pretty sure it is the same - I answered intensity for one but ā€˜other’ on at least one occasion noting in the pop up box that it was a race.

Saw your question in the TrainNow thread also but I’ll reply here as well, bumping the team about this!

Thanks, @IvyAudrain. I’ll work to keep comments/questions re: AT and TN in their respective threads from here forward.

I’ve actually not marked any workouts as all out yet. They’ve all been well within my wheelhouse and I’ve only been served a handful of stretch workouts early on. Everything since has been produtive or achievable. I wonder if the survey provided after marking all out depends on the difficulty class of the workout. For example, if I do a Breakthrough and mark it as all out, would it give me a struggle survey? What about stretch? Presumably, there are times where all out makes sense for those difficulty classes, right?

I definitely think it would serve struggle if you rated an Achieveable or Productive workout as all out, but I don’t think it should serve struggle every single time all out is marked.

Can confirm that a Stretch workout rated All Out serves the failure survey, haven’t tried any breakthrough

So, I haven’t paid too much attention to the AT thread as I wasn’t in the Beta…until now!
Apologies if this is buried in previous posts, but when first starting up, I’m presented with the option of keeping my existing plan or starting anew. What has been the experience of those options? Was the new plan radically different than the plan you were on? I have been using an updated plan (with the progression levels), so I assume keeping my existing plan will keep me on my current build phase, but now become adaptive. If I start a new plan, can I back date it so as not to restart in the Base phase…

So I figured out a way to beat the system today!

I signed up 10 times for adaptive training ;). Im sure that will make me next in! LMAO

I did get another invite today though. It was for a p*&#N enlarger. I think Nate is messing with me. LOL

I’m serious about the invite but its probably not from Nate… Maybe.

Couldn’t resist.

Also excellent podcast yesterday. Was hilarious.

If you used plan builder to make the one you’re on now, you’ll be all good. It will just adapt your future workouts based on your levels.

Just had weird experience. Had an Anerobic 5.2 workout (Joe Devel+2) that was classified as breakthrough for me. Surprisingly it actually felt pretty easy, but when I finished TR said that it looked hard for me and asked why it was so hard. I just skipped this as I did not feel like it was hard at all so didn’t think I could accurately answer this question. I couldn’t seem to find a way to answer the normal survey about how hard it felt and still can’t find it now. It then suggested adaptions which resulted in upcoming vo2 and anaerobic workouts easier, which I didn’t accept. my Anerobic level stayed at 1 despite easily completing this 5.2 level Anerobic workout which seems strange. The only possible explanation I have is that I had to get off trainer as there was an issue with my baby I had to assist with for 20 minutes or so while I was halfway through workout. Does TR maybe consider this as a failure?

well I don’t want to do this one again, oh wait, it’s on my calendar for next week too lol

Just got access to Adaptive Training. Question: is there a way to limit the length of workout per day? I can’t do more than 1 hour Monday-Friday, but have unlimited time on most weekends. The current adaptive plan keeps suggesting 1:30 workouts during weekdays.

when you’re on your workout for the day you can select alternatives and pick a 1hr workout comparable to the 90min one the plan has

Has anyone seen any adaptations for endurance workouts? I’ve progressed my endurance level fairly significantly in the last few weeks and my future endurance workouts haven’t changed at all. I’ve seen consistent adaptations to the upcoming threshold and VO2 workouts, but endurance is completely unchanged from the stock plans

By memory, I’m pretty sure Nate or someone from TR did say the system can see long pauses.

I’m not in Beta so don’t know how to find it, but I think there’s a way of saying ā€œno, I didn’t failā€. I’ve seen Chad McNeese and others positing about it, so hopefully one of them spies your post.

Are your endurance workouts in a recovery week? My experience has been that recovery weeks don’t get adapted at all regardless of whether the PL is higher or lower than the scheduled workouts.

If it’s not in a recovery week, then :woman_shrugging:t4:.

I had an estimated TSS based on HR from a workout I did on my MTB which doesn’t have a powermeter so it’s certainly part of AT at the moment. I had to raise a bug about it - the code barfed because I’d put my date of birth in European format.

So I got added to the beta about 2 weeks ago (just after I did a ramp test). 3 questions/ observations since I’ve had it that might be worth looking into.

  1. my ramp test was an increase in FTP of 6% but the levels in every domain suggested I’ve gone down in score from endurance to anaerobic. Obviously this adapted my plan which I’ve not failed a workout since. I’m guessing the consistency piece is great but it has confused me as to whether I could/ should be doing (albeit marginally) harder workouts?

  2. I use my phone to train and must have accidentally skipped forward to end a workout without meaning to (it was a ā€œstretchā€ sweetspot set that should have boosted my progression) and I couldn’t ā€œundoā€ the early end even though I went back and duplicated the workout to complete the scheduled workout. Is there a way to restore this (it was there previously and happens all the time as I sweat pretty heavily.

  3. I tried to switch today’s workout to outside (and I picked a more intense alternative) which has been pulled from my wahoo but I can’t seem to be able to get AT to recognise it and amend my adaptations or comment on my progressions (I did the RPE version with HR as a second guide as this bike doesn’t have a power meter).

All in all it’s very exciting and I certainly feel more confident that I’m working to my own capacity and progress but it’d be cool if someone could look at this so far. Love what TR stands for.

No. Well, some are, but most are not

I would definitely say the 20 minute break is why you got that survey, especially if it occured during an interval set rather than a recovery period in the workout. That’s a really big amount of time to recover, and could be why you felt the workout was so easy.
