I make water kefir for my daughter, it’s easy cheap or kumbucha which is slightly more involved than water kefir to make…
Almost reluctant to get into this, but there are cultures that eat pretty much only meat. Inuits have been brought up before. I think though for the diet to work, you’re not talking about just eating steaks, it’s a true “Nose to Tail” eating experience. Liver, Kidney, Organs, Marrow, Offal, Cartilage, Bone Broth, etc, etc.
I almost don’t want to link the podcasts below, but I’ll do it anyways. Ben Greenfield is a quack on a number of things, don’t trust him. But, he has some interesting guests sometimes, including some that I do trust on their topic, and if it’s something you’re interested in learning about or hearing another viewpoint, Paul Saladino appears to be one of the more educated on Carnivore. If nothing else, it’s an interesting listen if you remember to remain a cynic…
On the other side, fruit isn’t evil either, vegetables aren’t evil and bad for you, but our society has a sugar and processed food problem. The issue isn’t meat, or red meat, or fruit, or vegetables, it’s the preparations, the frying, and all the other processed crap we eat along with it.
Most of the evidence I’ve seen for healthiest diets, and cultures that have the highest longevity aren’t carnivore, they’re primarily plant based with some lean meat, fish, etc.
The wonderful thing about the internet, is it takes mere seconds to disprove wildly ridiculous statements, or shows clearly when someone is, at best, cherry picking data to the extreme. It makes one wonder if they actually are as ignorant about things as they seem, are trolling because they’re childish and think it’s fun, or think the entirety of the rest of the world somehow can read their forum posts, but is otherwise illiterate.
How long does meat sit in your gut? | BBC Science Focus Magazine.
I found this article with some references to back it up

Picky eating isn’t an amazing lifestyle hack, and frankly this level of restriction sounds more like an eating disorder than a great alternative for cyclists. The disorder is called orthorexia, go ahead and post a bunch of links saying it isn’t, we aren’t going to click them.
Not for me…I have a very efficient digestive tract and I can process meat in less than 12 hours.
Prove me wrong.
(again, see how this works?)
Serious question - do you actually read articles like this in your free time from a variety of sources, or do you typically go searching for one when your current beliefs are being challenged?
I’m not trying to be nasty, seriously, but the views you have are frankly incompatible with the knowledge gleaned from reading unbiased scientific papers.
I think that’s what the last few posts before yours were getting at…
This is funny.
Yes @Mdavidford provided exactly what a few threads around here need. IMHO this forum should strive to get back to humor and sharing ideas. And to think I used to come here for some uplifting and thought provoking discussion on training. So much dumpster fire in a few threads. Walk away people, walk away.
@Abe_Froman I think I know what you mean, but want to ask a question, to be sure.
I also want to clarify: When I say I can do “hard efforts” I mean VO2 & anaerobic WOs. I certainly don’t mean that my 210 W is objectively a “hard effort”, in terms of total W produced!!
By above, do you mean:
1 - If I ate sugar before and / or during a ride, I could produce more total power, so I would be doing objectively harder / higher power efforts?
or
2 - Because I don’t eat sugar before a ramp test, my FTP is set too low, and that is why I’m able to complete VO2 & anaerobics?
Or both / some combination of?
All of it.
Your ftp is low, because you arent fueling, which means you cant do higher wattage workouts, which means your ftp stays low, which means you higher m, say 120% of ftp is at a lower wattege.
Anyone can do a VO2 workout. Some just do theirs slowly. You are doing yours slowly (sorry, but relatively speaking true), because you dont fuel.
ALL of your riding is slow is what I’m getting at.
What you’re doing is kind of like going into the gym, doing a 1 rep max of 50 pounds, and then saying your nutrition is dialed because you did the same workout as the jacked body builder next to you. Never mind the fact he lifted 650…
Point of order: it’s perfectly possible for Mercury to be closer to Earth than Mars and Venus.
It’s also perfectly possible for Earth to be closer to the sun than it is to Mercury, Venus or Mars.
Hope this helps, and apologies to everyone who’s now grumpy with me for going a tad off-topic.
Yeah, I would assume that where the different planets are in their orbit around the sun, which one is closest to Earth will vary.
Aye. Textbooks help no one by having them all neatly lined up on one side of the sun.
Sometimes our nearest planetary neighbour is Venus. Sometimes it’s Mars. More often than either of those, it’s Mercury.
lol
Pretty sure that based on my elementary school learnedings, the sun is made out of foam.
… nope. Our distance from Mercury varies quite a bit. Sometimes we’re both on the same side of the sun and the distance is less. Sometimes Mercury is on the other side of the sun and the distance is greater.
More importantly, when Venus and Mars are on the other side of the sun from Earth, Mercury is obviously much closer to Earth than they are.
Honeydew melon
Damn science. So damn inconvenient sometimes
Nah - that’s all wrong - the nearest planet to Earth is its twin, Luna.
