Indoor vs Outdoor base training

Hi everyone

Me and my significant other have been debating the concept of base training. The basis of this discussion is;

She is old school and has told me I need to do long steady rides outside 3+ hours etc

My argument is that I can get the same training effect in 90mins on the Wattbike.

For context I have been a successful crit and track racer and now am looking to compete in Nat B road races of 100-120km. This is also my first winter of structured training with TR.

So who is right and why?
