HELP! I've got an FTP setting wrong somewhere

ARG!!

Did Table Rock, a ‘sweet spot’ workout, and Garmin Connect says I spent seconds at that level! Garmin Connect had my FTP at 227, Trainerroad says 196, and I’m at a loss where else the FTP could be set. I did find the setting in Connect while riding and set it properly (196) so it sure seems that the FTP wasn’t adjusted down, yet there is no connection to Connect while riding, so it should have been posted at the right level.

Does the Tacx New Smart bike have an FTP setting that would change the data in Connect? Strava shows a little more power used, but still nothing is ‘sweet spot’. Just checked and FTP is set to 196 there. Hmm…

Searching around the internet, I found a thread on Garmin Support that the Neo Smart is off by 10 to 20% on power, and users are looking for solutions…

I should maybe put the Rally’s on and use them for the power source for TR and Zwift? (I did that on my 2T and power was friskier than usual under the Smart bike, so not sure what that means, but interesting)

Weird issue… Is it the bike?

You need to standardize everything. One power meter becomes the source of truth, then do any FTP test on it. Once you’ve done that, manually set the value of Garmin and Strava.

So if I’m using the Tacx Neo Smart bike, and it possibly has a 20 to 30% issue, I need to change the power meter measurement device. Yikes…

I wonder if Garmin would give me a pair of their power pedals to fix this issue?

Yah ideally you would use the same power pedals both inside/outside so the numbers are consistent. Or at least the same brand like Garmin/Quark/Assioma

Lol I highly doubt they would. For a 20% difference, I’d ask for a refund or warranty. That’s FAR outside the margin of error I’d be willing to accept.

Well, Connect had the wrong FTP buried deep inside it. I had to find my Edge to get the numbers updated, and the agent said they should have automagically updated, and I shouldn’t have needed to do this. Yeah, sure…

I deleted the workout (Table Rock) and imported it again, and the zones did not change! So, maybe it’s still broken. Yippee…

I guess this looks better now. Might still be off a little.

My heart rate zones are off too… Well, no, they look better now too. Weird that it didn’t auto update.

I also did this same issue with an agent months ago, and couldn’t get anywhere. She forgot to have me get the Edge and sync it with my phone. For some reason that guy has to be included in the process. Why I can’t just hack it on the website seems like a needlessly cumbersome process.
