I got into the 200 mile version of unbound happening in May 31 2025. I’ve got a garmin watch so, I tried to set up a coaching plan there and found that I didn’t really like the app and functionality very well. Been watching the TR podcast videos for a while now and thought I’d give the platform a try.
When I am setting up a custom plan, I’m struggling to figure out the best way to plan for Unbound. I already have a decent base of endurance, but it is recommending I essentially just do 3 hard interval days and nothing else. From what I understand, to do a 200 mile ride threshold workouts can be helpful, but I thought there would be a lot more low intensity base building type of stuff.
I do want to build an FTP and get fitter so the ride is overall easier, but I’m a little confused on how to move forward. When I tried to add a 4th day of riding TR started complaining the plan was too ambitious.
In general, I’d say my goal is building endurance while also trying to get some FTP improvements thrown in. Should I switch to some other plan instead of doing custom? Maybe I am misunderstanding how to set it up. I created it as a goal and it asked for the time so I put 15 hours as a goal… Garmin let me put in either mileage or a time which seems to make more sense.
Forgive the long message, I want to use this product and make it work, but a little confused on how to get there with the current plan setup.
