I’ve think that you are the only person I’ve ever heard that doesn’t like Supacaz. usually people gush over it.
FWIW, I tried installing Supacaz Super Sticky Kush last week on my road bike. It was a total fail. While comfortable and it appeared durable, it was too thick to tightly wrap around all the curves in my bars (they have an additional curve on the drops for the palm of my hands). Within a week it had come unraveled in numerous places.
I installed Lizard Skin 1.8 mm today with minimal issues. I wear padded, vented gloves outside so combined there is plenty of cushion.
I fully recognize that bar tape is highly personal but, for me, Super Sticky Kush was too thick. I suspect I would have similar issues with other thick tape.
Thread resurrection…
For my dedicated indoor trainer bike, prefer the ESI RCT silicone bar tape. It has a good cush and can be taken off, washed and re-wrapped. Buy a roll of their silicone fixing tape and good to go for years of indoor training.
Note that sweat will migrate under most all tapes tape and then dry out leaving salt cakes. I like to unwrap, clean everything then re-wrap several times a year.
FWIW, on the indoor bike I don’t do the proper brake lever wrap. Just loop around and good to go. Makes things fast and easy.

I also, would like to revive this thread.
Anyone use ENVE bar tape? I think it came out recently but could be wrong. Was thinking of trying supacaz but am interested in the extra length of the ENVE tape. Thoughts?
Still happy with this recommendation from @djreynolds
Installed some Supakaz Kush 3mm on my bike a few weeks ago. It’s nice tape but not sure why people rave about it so much. What would be sweet is tape with the feel of LizardSkins DSP with the durability of the Supakaz Kush.
I recently got some Selle SMP Grip tape on sale for under $20. It has a textured rubber feel. Not a lot of stretch, but I just pulled hard during the wrap and it went down tight and smooth. I really like it and its a bargain compared to similar types of tapes.
This is what I’m hoping the Enve tape could be…
Great to hear! Good stuff eh
I’m with you. Supacaz doesn’t have near the cush of the thick lizard skins. I don’t know why people are down on the LS thick. It’s great stuff. Worth every penny.
My vote also definitely goes to the fabric knurl … best bar tape I have ever used !
high five
I really like this stuff too. I’ve had it on my gravel bike from day one and have re-wrapped bars once with the same tape. It’s showing wear now but still holding up. Good idea on the trainer bike since it’s comfy and re-useable.
No one has mentioned my personal fav, so here goes…
I really like the Cinelli Volee. It’s just padded enough, very grippy and comes in fun funky patterns.
Someone else had recommended the Zipp Service Course CX tape to me a while back and I really like it for my trainer bike. It is comfy and grippy but doesn’t soak up the sweat and is easy to clean.
Bought some of this last night to swap out with the cinelli cork tape that I’ve been using for the last year. Glad to hear that it deals with the sweat better. The cinelli stuff feels like a sponge sometimes.
I have used Zipp Service Course CX for a few years and love it. But it is out of stock everywhere in the UK at the moment and the price has increased substantially. I just bought some of this to try:
+1 for Lizard Skin 1.8mm. I tried the Supacuz Kush and it was too thick for my bars. They have some sort of bend in the drops that the palms of my hands fit nicely into, but it adds another set of curves to wrap. I liked the feel of the supacuz, but it came unraveled within two rides. Lizard Skin is holding nicely, and my previous Lizard Skin wrap job lasted 6-9 months before also coming unraveled. Never had the surface wear away. Just my $0.02.
