Good YouTube Racing - Videos for Training

Thanks! First race in 2019 is May 5th. Going for some wins this year after a strong winter training with TR and some big improvements in my FTP.

Appreciate this, I have been using it the last few rides

not races but I like these videos very much
ā€œLe grandi salite del ciclismoā€ by Cassani (great climbs of cycling history)

and one of my alltime fav … Monte Grappa

For some reason I really like to watch my own videos while training. I’m going to make a point to make more cycling videos this season.

Despite being surrounded by MTB trails, I’ve never done any MTBing myself and am not planning on doing any anytime soon, BUT… I’ve really enjoyed watching these MTB POV races and they’ve become my first choice for videos to watch during TR sessions.

Really liked the SickBiker’s race where he had to overtake dozens and dozens and dozens while descending through the trees like a loon (from @bradknapp’s list I think).

Keep the suggestions flowing!

That’s awesome. This is my first year back to racing, so focusing on finishing well.

I’m hoping to record all of my MTB races this year.

I just recorded one from this past weekend. I’ve got some kinks to work out, like creaking and squeaking that’s annoying and the fact that my extended battery setup shut down before the race was over, but here’s the link if you’re interested!

The race starts out with a rolling start on one mile of pavement, then 2.5 miles of gravel before turning to solid single track for the rest of it. I’m gonna have to push harder next race at the beginning to get by the guys who are fast but not comfortable on single track

The 2019 Cape Epic (MTB) has all 8 stages on replay available on YouTube which is like 20+ hours of pro racing. They have previous years available as well. Some early drama/rivalry developes this year!

Hi !
Thought we could start a thread and share some nice race movies to watch during them inside TR rides. I’m one of those who cant stand to just stare at them blue staples.

HereĀ“s a link to my YT channel with some MTB XC full races in Sweden. I upload new races from time to time…

Stay well and pedal hard.

Whole list of iceman vids

Did you end up recording your videos this season in 2.7k/30 FPS?

No, always 1080.

Are you able to get enough juice out of your battery to capture a full XCO race? I am new to the GoPro game and went out today for a pre-ride for next weekend’s course. I have a brand new out of the box GoPro Hero 7 Black with 3 brand new batteries. I started the camera at the beginning of the lap and just let it run.

Settings - GPS Off - WiFi Off - Protunes Off - 1060/60FPS - Hypersmooth On

I got 70 minutes almost exactly which even for the front of the race isn’t going to be enough.

Is that about what you get? Any other settings you would recommend to get another 10-15 minutes out of the battery?

In addition to your settings, my tests resulted iin the following having the longest runtime:

1080p / 30 fps / wide view / Protune on

Depending on temperature it should give you close to 2 hours. Also you can get an add on battery that will extend out to 8 hours.

David Millar’s Time Trial is an excellent movie, although a little bit different it’s well worth a watch as an insight into the pro peleton

Thanks for this. I found it on the BBC iPlayer.

Little old of a thread, but I’m trying to talk myself into recording my races and posting them the same way Ben Goyette used to.

But, I’m not sure if there is enough interest in anyone watching them anymore.
