The live cycling playlist on YouTube is pretty good distraction, it’s not a specific race but better than nothing.
Ad block on YouTube is useful or if you save the files also removes distractions.

Except YouTube’s war on ad-blockers is making YT almost unwatchable. There are far more commercials than ever before, and most seem to be full-run, you can’t skip them after 5 seconds, and some of the most popular providers I watch are loaded down with long un-skipable commercials, usually in pairs. Finding a blocker that doesn’t trigger their wrath is proving difficult. But their ‘premium’ service is something like $70 a month? Yeah, sure, to skip commercials? I’d rather skip YouTube! 
That is one thing I miss from my Peloton days. They started doing ‘scenic rides’, and so many places they did were places I have traveled. Sydney Australia, Seattle, San Diego, etc… It was so awesome to ride a place I had been to and remember thinking ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing to ride my bike here’, and actually virtually do it. And places I’ve always wanted to ride like the deserts and rocks of Utah, etc… Time sure passed quickly

But that service is a cable-cutting service, so you also get access to live TV, cable channels, etc. It isn’t just to avoid commercials.

Assuming that FLO would be the solution, which I don’t like either (150 USD to CAD 205.89 
is insane) they don’t have a full coverage either, do they? All 3 tours, monuments, classics?
YT premium is like $14/month gets you ad free youtube, downloadable offline viewing and youtube music.
YoutubeTV is their cable tv alternative…that’s what’s $70/month
Using ad blockers on youtube is sh***y and takes money directly out of the pockets of the creators who made the content you’re watching.
I agree with you, but I also agree with the sentiment that the commercials are getting more frequent and longer. I was fine with a commercial that was 5 seconds long every 4 minutes, but b2b 20 second commercials every 4 minutes is enough to make me cut back on my viewing.
I am sad to see GCN+ go…a bit of looking around and I can generally find the race I want to see while training (or late night viewing) on youtube. It is a moving target though as channels get shut down and others crop up. Prior to GCN+ I often ended up watching cyclocross races but with other language commentary. It didn’t bother me though because I would just listen to music while watching the race. Its a crap sandwich for sure though and I will miss the platform.
Ublock Origin is still working well for me with regards to YT ad blocking.
I’ve also played around with the FreeTube app and it works brilliantly.
I couldn’t get Eurosport in past even with vpn because my credit card wasn’t addressed to Europe. US based cycling fans like myself might be super screwed

What are you basing this on? My understanding was that the cycling patron at jumbo passed away and the new ownership wanted out. This is fairly typical for cycling, where teams rely on a single wealthy individual advocating for the sponsorship through their holdings
That is exactly what happened. I can’t entirely blame people for being suspicious given cycling’s history, but there’s also just a lot of finger pointing whenever someone’s favorite team and/or rider isn’t on top.
