You know you’ve jinxed it now right?
I am on my second pair. The first pair was almost that many too and never an issue. I have friends with similar confidence. Good product
I’ve had Vector 3s since they came out. The only “issue” was battery rub. Now, I put a very small bit of mineral oil on when I change. Zero issues other than that
I was looking at the Assioma Duo and Garmin Vector pedals. Everything I read was people were recommending the Assioma pedals over Garmin. But on the Assioma website, it says that you won’t be able to complete your purchase till about 60 days from now. Does anyone know what the issues are and is it worth a 2 month wait over the Garmins, which seem to have worked out most of their issues now?
Lot of demand and probably hard to do business as usual since they are made in Italy. The Favero have a better track record than Garmins, are rechargeable, and easier to repair in a crash. Can also be converted to MTB pedals with a hack. Also believe they are lighter. And lower stack height. And cheaper.
The sooner you buy the sooner you’ll have them. My buddy only has 30 days left
The fact they are located in northern Italy and COVID-19 decimated northern Italy.
I got the Assioma Duo for $739 delivered last year in February from Aamazon, got them two days later. Wow the price went up by $100. They say will be in stock on June 2 and will deliver on June 4-5 if you buy now.
Yeah, I’m guessing they have missed 2 months production.
They seem to be catching up . I ordered a right side upgrade pedal from Favero on Monday, it arrived via fedex from Italy all the way to Arizona on Thursday.
The only problem I have with them is that they spin to easily and if you don’t get it absolutely correct first time or something happens that gets them spinning it’s difficult to get clipped in quickly and by that time my mates are down the road. Other than that they are great. Someone on this forum I think replaced the bearings with some cheap ones and packed them with grease to stop this happening though.
Looking into these power meters again since the crank-based one on my old bike does not fit the new bike’s bottom bracket. Have the Garmin Vector 3’s quality been improved from a year ago when everybody was having problems? Am I just better off ordering some Assioma Duos? Either way, I’d like to order them through my LBS to support them.
I only have my own experience to base this on, but my Vector 3s have been rock solid since the latest battery door revision. Garmin support were also really good when I wanted a pedal swapped out. That said, I still think there’s issues that can’t be fixed, like the metal battery door cover screwing into plastic threads. That’s a dumb design that’s asking for trouble.
I’m still distrustful of the Garmin Vector 3s. Why? Because power meters are like hens teeth right now, getting them is hit or miss, and I went hunting for Favero Assiomas (duo, uno…I’ll take anything) and they’re sold out, backordered, or available to ship god knows when. HOWEVER…the more expensive Vector 3s are still easy to find. That’s saying something Reminds me of the first few weeks of the pandemic when you’d see nearly entirely empty grocery store aisles with, like, one teeny section with a product still on the shelf, and it was the one product that no one would spend $ on, even if they were afraid of running out of food. I’m talking to YOU organic free range dolphin-safe chia seed and flax nut-free nut butter.
I’ve had Vector 3’s for a year now and they haven’t missed a beat once.
Single sided.
I have Garmin Vector 3s (left side) from launch. I never had any problem with them.
The reason for that is what people are reading online. The fact is now in June of 2020 Vector3s are a good product. In early 2019? Not so much. I don’t blame people for going with Assiomas at all, but the Vectors work very well for me and a number of other people now… it was a bumpy first few months last year, for sure.
I have V3 and was really confused about which direction to go Garmin or Assioma. I think either would be a great fit. I settled on the V3- frankly for the battery to be replaced vs assioma replace whole unit. That in my opinion was a minor difference but was a tipping point for me. I have not had any problems with the v3. I should mention that I haven’t dialed them in 100% yet and still trying to get used to them vs direct drive readings on TR. Which is correct? IDK. I have yet to ride outdoors with them yet. So far, I haven’t had any problems with them. Today, I got a notification that my battery is low in the V3, so I’ll need to replace, but they seem to link just fine to the Garmin head unit and problem free. The only thing that I didn’t like is that I had a fit with SPD pedals and will have to revisit since V3 use a different cleat system. That was pretty frustrating but part of the change to be expected.
I have friends that have bought V3’s very recently, they are still a problem!
OK, I’ve had zero issues for going on 18mos, but YMMV. Appreciate the update.
My friend with Vector 3’s is on his third set of battery doors. This time they sent a bunch of stuff with them and involves removing some of the internals so hopefully that’s the end of issues for him. Good that they’re still supporting the issue even out of warranty at least. Still loving my Assioma’s which only had a brief bout with the right side pedal battery dieing really quickly, which was quickly solved with a firmware update direct from Favero support.
