Thanks, but it’s definitely not just SPD. It happens with these pedals every single time I push the watts, and especially when standing. I’ve worn SPD for at least 10 years and never experienced anything even close to this.
I have cut my shoes and no improvement. They’re S-Works shoes too, so that was an expensive experiment! ![]()
another couple of rides in the books. for all of the talk/concern about stack height and pedal clearance, i haven’t had a single rock strike yet. for reference, i smash my eggbeater 11s against a rock at least every ride. of course it’s early days and i could be just babying them a bit, but still, it’s a good sign.
i am floored by the amount of data these things send. i’m ashamed to admit that i haven’t yet researched what half of this stuff is that these pedals are providing, but it’s going to be fun to dig into it.
they are very, very smooth and clip in / out is quite a bit easier than with the eggbeaters. much more riding to come, so we’ll see how they hold up!
Just to be sure I’m following, are you guys talking about cutting your soles to fit the Rally SPD pedals or teh Asioma hacked pedals? Thanks!
The Assioma hacked because of the pod next to the crank arm
CX is the key bike you have in here. If you are really using it for CX where slogging in mud is on order you’ll want SPD (which is the XC1/200) to help with clearing, and most CX oriented shoes will have a two bolt. Fixie/Urban you could go road, and you don’t even need these new rally - you can get any vector in keo style already.
Pulled the trigger on the Garmin pedals through REI to get the co-op points. Will likely have a set of Assioma and Xpedo pedals for sale soon (to offset the mind numbing cost of the Rally).
Pulled the trigger on 2 sets of Rally XC200’s(one for me, one for my wife!)
I’ve been getting annoying dropouts on my set, my wife’s have been perfect. I’ve contacted Garmin and they want them back. anyone else have this issue?
I’ve used my xc100s twice outside and had brief hiccups both times which is incredibly annoying after dealing with vector 3 problems in the past. I also have a hard time getting them calibrated with my 530.
Indoors seemed to be ok.
Edit: I am also getting mine replaced. Between Wahoo and Garmin I’m just a masochist for spending a lot of money on flakey equipment ![]()
Not one. Multiple head units. I’d go with the swap.
My XC200s are pretty jumpy compared to what I saw with my Assiomas. A few brief dropouts here and there, but the leaps up and down are even more annoying. I switched to 10 second smoothing as a result.
that is the plan! just was curious if i was in the minority with my issue.
That’s a serious amount of smoothing!
Sadly, yes
Got my Replacements today.
This was the result ![]()
Gonna try my wife’s pair tomorrow and see what happens. strange that it drops power but not cadence.
Are those dropouts or you standing?
Most are with no change in riding position. The one drop the last time I stood @ MM46:34 coresponds with standing, but seems odd that it went to 0. The ‘dip’ at the second standing section @ MM40:33 seem s plausible to just be transitioning. All other drops or quick dips happened with no actual change in position or pedal speed.
I’d be inclined to say it’s some form of interference but the cadence never drops.(i.e. MM 38.43) Power goes to zero but cadence stays steady.
I have the same. I changed to 10 second smoothing so it doesn’t drive me nuts in real time, but it’s definitely concerning long term.
That’s fine for what you see, but when you are in ERG mode and TR sees a drop in power, it ramps up the resistance.
