Garmin fail in race

I had a major Garmin fail during my last triathlon. My watch was kicked during the swim and it stopped the workout. I tried to catch it up in T1 (but failed). My bike leg was recorded as a “transition”. My run was mostly correct. I changed the workout type of my “transition” bike leg to a ride in Strava. TR updates the name of the activity, but not the workout type. Any ideas how to correct this in TR?

I had my watch kicked off completely last year, glad yours stayed on.

I think if you;

  1. Change the activity type in Garmin
  2. Export the activity to fit file
  3. Delete the activity in Strava and TR
  4. Import the activity fit file into Strava
    Then it should sync across.

Personally though, I would email/online chat the support team.

That would suck to loose a watch during a race! Not having any data was good for my race. I went by feel and probably did better than if I had it (6th out of 228 in a sprint tri).

As @JoeX said, if you change the activity type in Garmin/Strava, download (export) the .fit file, and then manually upload your activity to TR, that should get the workout type fixed for you.

Let me know if that works or if you have any additional questions!
