I like the new screen, I usually sell my old Garmin and upgrade when the newest comes out, I’m undecided on selling my 1040 at this point since cold weather performance and battery works so well in winter. The super long battery life has me spoiled.
Will they bring the nice screen customisation to the 1040?
Do we know when some feature will come to the 1040? Do the need months for the update or will it be out soon?
I think 1 of my bikes uses a bar mounted out front mount.
I can’t find it anymore on garmin’s website? I thought it was meant for Ebike integration?

same problem as the battery bank, I’d loose my headlight mount.
Because it uses a go pro style under gps mount?

FWIW, the 1050’s responsiveness and screen are much much better than the 1030+.

I tend to be an early adopter on new tech, but it’s going to be hard to convince me to make the jump from a 1040 Solar. While the battery life on the 1050 is certainly adequate, I really appreciate not having to charge the 1040 between rides. It’s pretty common for me to do some big back to back to back days over Fri-Sun and just leave the 1040 on the bike.
It will be interesting to see if they dropped this first and still have something else cooking. Perhaps a 1050 Solar where there is a separate solar panel similar to the Coros. The Coros is obviously a buggy mess, but there are some interesting aspects with the hardware and potential for not having to charge.
If I was still on a 1030/1030+, I’d make the jump, but for now going to stick with the 1040 Solar.

I think I’m in the same boat, but I am also really, really tempted to buy a $700 bike bell. I even checked, and the $700 bike bell should fit in all my quarter turn mounts without issues.

Imagine the scene at Garmin HQ when the person in the R&D department lobber the idea «hear me through, I think we can charge 700 bucks for a bell!»

The first club ride I was on with my brand new varia, all the rest in the group did was bitch-bitch-bitch… 
Does it have to beep so much? Does it have to be so loud? Can’t it SAY what the issue is? Well, I’ll never buy one!’ ‘Why is it picking me up’ (No, it’s the gigantic Fords monster just behind you, that you don’t see, that the beeps are supposed to let me/us know it’s there! ) And on and on. AND, of course they started showing up on other people’s bikes. In the group. 
Like riding with a bunch of 5-year olds…
And all I heard about was a new laser range finder with a ‘Tournament Mode’ with a warning light. (There should be one on the course as long as I’m on it! 
)

I always turn off the audible notifications during group rides. The beeping can be annoying.
