Future Train Now

I’m an early morning rider (4am). It would be wonderful to be able to see what my Train Now workout will be the next day, assuming I’m not riding between now and then. This would help me plan my fuel, etc.

Yes! I also ride early, am currently not following a training plan, and have been thinking the same thing. In the mobile app (iPhone) if you click on a day in the calendar, it pulls up the “Add an Activity” menu. The first option is “Suggested Train Now Workout,” but, it only suggests a workout for right then, not the future. I don’t see it as an option in the calendar on the website.

I’ve also thought it would be nice to add adaptive workouts to the calendar. That way I could just tell it to give me a 90-minute “Productive” V02 Max workout every Monday, and the workout I’m going to look for is already there.

@trevlenhart I’ll pass this suggestion along to the rest of the team!

@WillS, it sounds like getting on a custom training plan might be a good move for you. What’s your reasoning for using TrainNow at the moment?

@eddie Mostly that I’ve been on a training plan for the last 19 months and wanted a break.

Lately, I’ve also found that I’m usually picking more simple alternate workouts that are easier to do outside. Since the alternates keep you in the same style of workout, it usually works better to hand pick each workout so I don’t end up with some race simulator littered with short intervals out on the road.

There’s no harm in taking a break!

Regarding complex workouts, once you’re back on a plan, you’ll be able to set the workouts/days that you want to ride outside as such, and we’ll give you workouts that work well out in the real world.

Having this conversation has made me realize that maybe having an “Outside” switch for TrainNow could be cool to ensure that what it’s giving you is suitable as an Outside Workout if your intentions are to ride outside.

I started a thread for this a while back and others chimed in that I was far from the first to ask for this, so it seems it’s a popular idea.
