I suspect athlete mode is for those stocky, muscular (think bodybuilder) type physiques that are heavy for their height due to high muscle percent rather than for a tendency toward obesity. Example, the bodybuilders are always quick to point out that BMI is worthless to them because it says they have a 30+ BMI so they are obese.

Not so, if you are cutting your carbs. I do not count calories when I go super low carb. Literally a reason that I do this diet.
