They all say that afterwards. I guess its a very fine line between having something left, and blowing up. Team managers like to err on the side of caution, especially if that is enough to achieve the record. Riders likely want the feeling of leaving it all out there, and are slightly dissappointed when they donā€™t blow up.

Ganna was losing form in those last 10 minutes, his head kept moving, and he kept waving around on the track a bit. I reckon he did it exactly right.

Amazing effortā€¦the Hour Record is now unified. No more ā€œBest Effortā€ nonsense the UCI used to p*ss on Boardmanā€™s record.

Always figured heā€™d easily take the record, but besting Boardmanā€™s distance is really impressive!!

I was going more by his manner rather than what he said, ie he wasnā€™t desperately gasping for air and didnā€™t look wrecked.

Agree, I didnā€™t have the audio on once heā€™d finished, but I thought he appeared composed even straight off the bike he was looking much fresher than other riders after similar efforts.

They had the heating set to 28Ā° too :scream:.

That was phenomenal. The best, most enjoyable and awe-inspiring 60 minutes Iā€™ve experienced in a long time (not that I get that many). The pleasure and enjoyment I got from watching 60 minutes of uninterrupted coverage of Ganna doing what he does best was a genuine pleasure - not to mention all the fascinating and insightful little clips that GCN+ kept feeding us. Nice, also, that they paid tribute to how Obree and Boardman paved the way for all future attempts.

Just started watching it. Someone shouldā€™ve made sure the three colors of the Italian flag were shown in the same order (left to right) on the helmet and the stripe down the back of the jersey. Probably gonna get a fine for that :rofl:

And another outstanding record (4000 individual pursuit) for Ganna on the track added today. Dan Bingham insights + Ganna power created something remarkable.

Did anyone watch the UCI champs I have a sneaking suspicion that Ganna let Bigham and co win the Team Pursuit given how comfortably he won the gold with a WR time tonight in the Solo Pursuit
