I reserved my MX2 on 4/8 and haven’t gotten the email to order them yet.
I paid on wedenesday and received mine (MX-2) this morning in the Netherlands) Shipping from door to door (Italy - Netherlands) took an amazing 18 hours….
Got mine today, and for Canadians, I just had to pay GST and an $11 fedex fee…no further duty. PST would apply too if your province has it.
Signed up.
Waited 17 days, received email and ordered.
Waited 4 days and they arrived. Kansas-USA
Just received mine yesterday too, adding another data point for , same as @DavidYYC, GST + $11.40. Shipped on Weds, arrived on Friday to Toronto area
Really hope I can order mine soon, and hope their support is good because my assioma uno just died after a year…
Buddy of mine put his name on the list ~2 weeks ago and just got his e-mail yesterday.
Adding a third confirmation. No duty to Canada, simple gst and the fee. Mines due to arrive to western Canada tomorrow.
@Morzak Favero support for me was superb on my Assioma road pedals when they died on one wet ride inside the 2 year mark (might well have been inside the 1year mark, can’t remember - but it was a warranty issue), they just wanted to see photos of the pedals to confirm I hadn’t crashed them and then send me a new axle unit to swap in without having to send the old unit back. If you’re out of warranty they will be able to sell you spares - I have had to buy another axle since as I tried to tighten them into the crank a little too much using the plastic pod, and clearly wrecked the power sensing components.
Good to hear just want a working power meter as soon as possible because my Suito at home seems to be pretty unreliable…
Anyway, a brief bit of feedback on use of my MX-2s… Unsurprisingly they felt just like Shimano Spds out in the real world on my gravel bike. Also, having tested the accuracy against my turbo (Elite Drivo 2), for a 270watt turbo wattage (steady state) on Trainerroad over 20mins, pedals averaged 278w. Both units (turbo and pedals) are supposedly ±1%… (I can’t be bothered to think about the maths or surmise as to drivetrain losses so make your own judgement on the numbers )
Nice, I was waiting to see someone compare the pedals to something else.
I’m waiting to compare my mx2s with my neo2T, my garmin xc200s were also about <10 watts higher than the neo2T. I do think it’s drivetrain losses but that seems like more than 1%.
I’ll post once I do compare them, crazy week of work so I don’t have too much time at the moment.
Interested to know how you get on. Just looked up drivetrain efficiencies in a book called Bicycling Science by David Gordon Wilson and it suggests figures across a number of different studies as low as 88% but also up to high 90’s for clean drivetrains (with caveats around efficiency depending on which size cogs and how much power etc).
My drivetrain is fairly clean, and uses ceramic lube (trying to use it up, not that I use posh lube on the indoor bike!) so maybe the 8w difference is reasonable.
When I did a similar test with a Drivo 1, my Assioma road pedals were 331w Vs 328w (Drivo) for a 20minute steady state effort years ago when I first got them.
I did a quick comparison this morning; mx2 vs neo2T.
Depending on the intensity the difference was also about + 5-10 watts. When I was doing endurance they were almost spot on with each other. When I kicked up the intensity it was around a 8 watt difference. I don’t have power files, I was doing a short comparison. So with drivetrain losses I’m seeing both the mx2 and rally xc200s are 5-10 watts higher than my neo2T.
Also I didn’t use a torque wrench, Favero also suggest tightening pedals to 35nm like the rally xc200s.
Reservation on the 8th on April, ordered today.
Hope to get them in the next few days.
my mx-2s should hopefully arrive tomorrow. really excited. i had the rally xc200s and they were good, but i ended up returning them for 2 reasons:
- i couldn’t justify the cost ($1300 at the time, not sure what they are now). for mountain biking, i LOVE the idea of power meters, but it wasn’t absolutely necessary at that price. i just felt bad spending the $$.
and 2. i couldn’t really get over the stack height or the weight. i’m coming from eggbeater 11s, which is like riding a gazelle. my first few rides with the rallys was a festival of rock bashing. i got used to them after 4-5 rides and it was reduced, but not eliminated. to their credit, they held up quite well and i had no doubt they would last, but it was an annoying situation nonetheless. the weight i admit didn’t bother me as much as i thought it would, but it was still there psychologically lol
the faveros look like they’re going to eliminate these issues. almost half the price of the rallys, far lighter, greatly reduced stack height should make an appreciable difference. i’m still giving up ~3mm stack height and ~200g of weight over the eggbeaters, but the tradeoff of course is cycling dynamics. i’m ready. can’t wait.
I reserved on the 9th. I hope this means I’ll get my email to purchase within a couple of days.
Curious to hear how folks who have these pedals are getting along with them. Early adoption is always a bit fraught; does the app work well, do the pedals connect to head units reliably, any other teething issues?
As an aside I can’t image retailers are too pleased with how Favero has handled this launch; I see sites like Powermetercity have “mid may” as an estimated arrival date, so seems like Favero is trying to move as many units as possible via direct sales before providing them to retailers. Fair enough, margins are surely higher, but I’d feel a bit burned if I were PMCity.
I don’t see early adoption as an issue. The app is the same app as the one they use for their long existing Assioma road pedals, so it’s not like the whole proposition is entirely new to the market. The technology within the pedals is probably based on the assiomas - I doubt there’s anything especially new other than how they have managed to fram existing technology into a smaller package.
Probably quite a savvy move by Favero to drip feed to the market, creates a bit of demand. And there aren’t many off road power meter options as it is.
No issues for me. Beautifully packaged, thorough instructions, paired with the app and head unit uneventfully.
It’s been absolutely seamless, just the evolved form factor with no pod, and an out of the box solution for SPD pedals.
I had modified my road assiomas with SPD pedal bodies (which worked great), and have now converted those back to the road pedal bodies. So I can leave those on the road bike, and the MX’s on the gravel bike without having to swap back and forth.
Overall review….love them.
