Who billed you for import fees? I’ve bought multiple sets of pedals directly from Favero and never paid anything more than the price from their store.

One pair will come in w/o charge but two pairs on a single order exceed the $800 max to avoid it.

Interesting! I never know what I’m going to learn here.

This assumes you’re shipping to US and that the $800 max “de minimis” is still in place for imports from countries which yet last year included Italy. With the tariff du jour and countries involved it’s been a bit more complicated and that may have or could change any day.

Since they charge per box shipped (not reduced for ordering two on a single order), placing two separate orders rather than a single gets you safely under the limit.

$798.84 as of this morning. Just under the limit! :+1:

Others have mentioned it already, but Power Meter City has great tech info and support. I’ve bought my most recent two PMs from them, and some chainrings.

Any word on an SPD-SL version?

Isn’t this why they offer the Duo-Shi spindles?

Yeah, but the new spindles on the MX don’t have that big sensor on the, and the Q factor isn’t so much wider than normal Shimano pedals.

My prediction is sometime this year.

In the meantime there’s a SPD-SL pedal body hack that works well, similar to the legendary SPD hack first discussed here on the TR forums many years back.

Thanks Shane. For a second there I thought that was a new hack for the MX version.

Not in a mad rush so will sit tight and hope they release an SL version during the next year.

Assume you are just inquiring about a road version of the MX? I’m probably being pedantic but if Favero were to release one it will likely be a Look/Xpedo road cleat rather than shimano SPD-SL…

I thought the SPD-SL was out of patent, hence the duo-shi?

Duo-Shi doesn’t come with pedal bodies. You have to find those yourself.

Although I think it’s open season on SPD-SL. Xpedo Sonik are doing SPD-SL pedal bodies. SRM X-Track road and Garmin Rally RS all use that style now too.

I’d expect both from Favero. An SPD-SL for those of us who have a lifelong attachment to that style of pedal, and a Look KEO body version as an easy upgrade path for people who have the DUO and don’t want to faff with switching cleats, or who maybe have multiple bikes and want to keep the same shoes/cleats across a few different sets of Favero power pedals.

Hi Shane,

do You suspect any weight reduction of upcoming pedals, especally keo cleat compatible?

thx

Let me check the scales… wait… just kidding.

I’d expect a podless Assioma road pedal to be well under 300g. That’s guesswork based on the weight of the PRO MX spindle (minus the SPD body) and a typical Look KEO or SPD-SL pedal body.

Youngster. SPD-SLs came out in the early aughts, right? For me, that’s a recent innovation. I think Looks came out in the mid 80s. Those were arguably the same basic mechanism and design.

Back in the simple days when you didn’t clip-in to clipless pedals

Right. I used toe-clips and straps, and sometimes cleats to capture the shoe in the pedal. There was no quickly un-clipping with toe-clips straps and cleats. I had to release the strap before I could get my foot out.
