Just logged in after a few outdoor bike and run sessions, so have not done a structured trainerroad Session for maybe a week. The fatigue warnings have gone nuts, nearly every day for the next few weeks is either yellow or red. What’s going on?
Have the same issue. Mine goes out for a month and is recommending either Endurance or Rest. Support told me that its correct based on my history (yea right). I took a couple months off over winter, but I’ve been ramping up for three weeks and handling all the pre-”AI 2.0” workouts just fine. Additionally, they suggested I turn off the feature. I’m on a triathlon plan and they said this “At this time, the recommended volume option is only available for cycling plans”. So my guess here is that the “AI” just doesn’t handle schedules with swim and run sessions or it grossly over estimates the difficulty of those sessions.
This will probably take some time to iron out, but I’m not holding my breath. Having monster FTP predictions after a month of Endurance and Rest sounds cool but old Trainer Road was so good.
Looks as though its struggling with all the double sessions.
I’m wondering if they have changed the model to better account for runs and swims but they don’t have enough data to accurately predict how it will effect individual athletes.
I.e. you might have been mixing these extra activities in for a while but the current system hasn’t learnt yet how you react to it.
Personally I would turn of the automatic fatigue management for at least a bloc or two until the new system learns you.
Currently I think your calender will still look very yellow and red (apparently they are working on the option to turn it off completely) but at least your workouts won’t automatically get changed.
There’s another thread about the same issue, and I see the same. Looks like when you restart after a break, it completely underestimates your ability to return to your previous training load.
Weird goings on. I’ve been on this plan for a few months and it’s also my third long distance triathlon and it’s never done anything remotely like this before, maybe the odd red or yellow day here and there.
Thank Garf, I haven’t really been on a break, just running and riding my own stuff in Spain for a few days, I’ve been on this plan for several months
I have quite a few runs on my calendar (which, due to weather, I have mostly been skipping lately) and they do seem to mess with the fatigue predictions for me as well.
I feel you on this. Nearly every day in January has been yellow. When I was adding strength workouts, I would get at least one red day a week. I don’t even put in planned strength anymore, and I ignore the yellow days. I’m walking 6 days a week for 45 minutes, 3-4 easy/moderate TR rides, a day or two of splitboarding or xc skiing with a resort day thrown in - but I never record those.
Is everyone here on a triathlon plan?
Not I. Masters low volume.
No but I have added swim, run and lifts.
A planned 1hr run, with no RPE or tss set will tend to turn a day red, but if I actually run an easy 30mins it decides it’s only worth a yellow.
