Well after 4 years I finally relinquished my pain cave occupancy and moved out to the garage… in Texas. It’s warm, and humid. My first workout instantly revealed my Lasko blower won’t suffice. I stopped my Lowes yesterday and picked up this thing based on the stated 3800 CFM, over 100 times more air than the Lasko blower, but I’m mid workout right now and it honestly doesn’t seem much better… what are y’all using with success in warmer climates?
Both of those fans are pretty solid choices – could you try using both of them at once? Some athletes find more success running multiple fans at the same time if that’s an option for you – especially if you’re in the garage and it’s hot and humid!
Some kind of ice vest or ice sock you could put on yourself might be helpful as well if you pair it up with the fan.
I train in the new build (well insulated) house as I don’t have a garage and I feel I need something blowing in my face. Ive a large gym fan and the UK equivalent of the Lasko blower too but also a pedestal fan. I’ve also two smaller desk fans for when it really gets humid but at this time of year I prefer to go outdoors.
You can only do so much. Im in Tn and deal with heat and humidity too. I have 4 fans on me and honestly could use more. Get all you can, and be strategic with when you ride. Ie morning is coolest, but humidity is 100%, son wait a lttle to let the humidity drop a little and the temps go up a little, but not much.
moving it away from the wall should improve the airflow for that axial fan, better would be to put the Lasko blower in front of you as it draws in air from the side and put your new fan behind you.
You do have the garage door or a window open, to let in fresh air let out the CO2?
Texas garage person that’s moved inside. When I did trainer workouts in the garage I used 3 fans. 2 of them elevated. 1 in front and one behind me. Similar to the type you bought. Then the Lasko below me pointed upward.
Workouts before noon.
Run head under cold water before beginning.
House to garage door opened 30 minutes before workout with a fan to blow some cooler air into the garage, if it never got below 80F at night. This helped relieve some of the humidity. Yes the electric bill probably went up.
2 ice packs in cooler right next to bike as back up.
It’s still gonna feel hotter than riding outside but what else can you do without A/C in Texas.
4 Lasko fans for me. One aimed from the front left to my chest. One aimed from the front right to my face, one at my 6 o’clock position aimed at my back (crucial!) and one on the ground to my left aimed up at my belly. I’m indoors, so not exactly comparable, but point being, 1 or even 2 fans is probably not enough for anything. I turn them on one at a time during the warm up, but almost always have all four rolling even when doing z2.
Your new fan, with much high CFM, isn’t much better because the lasko has a more concentrated stream. You probably would have more success with 2 lasko blower fans than with that big one or even 1 of each. Set 1 lasko to hit your check and 1 to hit your face. Otherwise, you just need to give it time to get your heat fitness up
Ditto, more blower fans that are well placed and pointed. For sure one in front on the chest (and maybe face depending on height), and best to be higher than the floor IMO. A second one hip height at the rear, that flows air on your hips up along your back.
I have 3 total indoors and use 2 most days. The 3rd is reserved for the few days the AC can’t keep the room under 75*F.
I crack the garage door a couple feet and start the fan as soon as I wake up, then go get ready and fill up my hydration and start my workout about 20 minutes later.
Let’s start a team, this is our team name.
Ice sock is a great idea, Zackery!
