Just signed up for TR created my training plan, then setup in Zwift like instructions said. Erg seemed not to work even though both platforms said it was on. I’m not new to either platforms, just new to running them together. Does both platforms control resistance? Are there anymore settings that I need to change than what the articles said to follow running both together? Thanks!
Both programs will be fighting each other for connection. If you are syncing your TR workouts to zwift, close Trainer road app and just use zwift. No need to have both open.
Or are you doing the other unofficial method, be interesting to know which instructions you are following.
If you want the to use the TR app to control ERG then you need to make sure you don’t select your trainer as a controller on zwift.
If you want zwift to control ERG then no reason to have the TR app open.
This is what I did to get them running. https://support.trainerroad.com/hc/en-us/articles/33804603261467-How-to-Complete-TrainerRoad-Workouts-in-Zwift
Your original post sounds like you were running both Zwift and TR at the same time. The link here implies you were only running Zwift. Were you just using Zwift or trying to use both simultaneously (your power meter connected to both Zwift and TR)? We’re asking because then we can help troubleshoot.
Sorry must have copied the wrong article. I’m running TR and zwift at the same time. I kept getting emails that they would both run together so clicked the link and got them both setup. First ride was just 30 minute TR low ftp recovery ride in Zwift. TR was in upper left corner of Zwift but erg was not controlling like it’s supposed to. Supposed to start a 3 month plan in TR tomorrow I’ll try to take some screen shots.
Just do what the linked article says to do. No longer need to run both programs at the same time. Technically there are ways you can and people did it for years but not needed anymore. Link TR to zwift and run it all from zwift.
My personal preference is to run both programs - but great that we have a choice now.
I agree with @mrtopher1980 - just run your TR workout in Zwift for the easiest solution. It’ll send the completed workout data to TR. But, if for some reason you need to run both, here’s the solution. I used to use #2. Hope that helps!
That was good . They need to talk to each other so your workouts shows up in zwift. Then when done it gets sent back to TR.
When starting a workout, do not load or run the workout in TR. It will be in Zwift and when you start Zwift it will show your devices, heart rate monitor, trainer power, cadence…etc. then in the next screen you willl see the workout. Click on it and go. Pick your route and you are off. Zwift will control the power levels
Thank you to all! I will try it tomorrow and not load it or run both programs at the same time. I appreciate all the help! This old man needs to get in better shape and loose some weight.
