Usually only 3 or 4 but what is their purpose?

Usually only 3 or 4 but what is their purpose?
Some are form sprints, lower power and high rpm to work on form/efficienty. Some are full gas to work on neuromuscular recruitment.
Reading the workout notes sometimes sheds light on the purpose and/or objectives of the drills like sprints.
