Emonda 2021 New Pictures

Test rode the SL5. Beautiful bike but it felt sluggish because it’s so heavy! I think i prefer the TCR over this.

The SL5 felt sluggish, because the wheels are boat anchors and the tires don’t do it any favours. The frame is definitely not sluggish when kitted out properly.

HOw do you like your SL7? What components did you get on yours?

Got any of dem pics…? Are official SL7 pics out already?

There are some early photos in this thread. I’ve also seen a couple pics on Instagram that looked like some pros are riding them now.

Mine is a 2020, not the new redesign, but I love it. Picked up the frameset and some Aeolus Pro 5 disc wheels from a buddy who was already upgrading to an SLR. I built this one with DA 9070, Juintech F1’s 28mm Schwalbe Pro One’s (the new version) and Garmin Vector 3s’s. Even in a 58, it’s barely over 17lbs.
It’s everything I could ever want in an everyday/anyday/allday bike.

I have a new 2021 Emonda Sl 6 pro. Sold the elite wheels and got the new Bontrager Aeolus RSL wheels. I love the damn bike! It accelerates great. Nice low position. Stiff responsive back end. I’m contemplating purchasing the one piece aero bar/stem as well now that I have my fit down on the bike. I can answer any questions you guys have about the bike.

I just took delivery of a SLR 9 eTap yesterday. I placed my order a month ago on the Friday after the launch. The bike is sweet! This is the ‘Navy Carbon Smoke/Blue’ color.

The 54cm bike weighs 6.78kg (14.95lb) without pedals or cages. I don’t know for certain, but I believe it has the TLR rim strips installed (and tubes, as it comes stock that way). I plan to put on some GP 5000 TL with rim tape after I kill these tires. With my pedals, cages, and wahoo mount it weighs 15.5lb.

My previous “road” bike was actually a 2014 Fuji CX carbon bike with Stans Grail wheels and 38c tires. So, this is a bit different and very fast for me! Because it’s my first true road bike, I’m not going to be able to provide much valuable comparisons. It’s uhhh, really fast?

I use AXS Eagle on my MTB and setting up the Road AXS was basically the same process. The app found the power meter and all the pieces and hooked it all up seamlessly. I really love this ecosystem.

The only issues i’ve had so far are just around the blendr mount(s) for my stuff. I have a Wahoo computer and was able to get the Wahoo “Quarter turn” mount to fit into the Blendr Garmin mount. It works great and was an easy solution. I also have a Bontrager Ion 200 RT light, so I need the “duo” base. My bike only came with the uno base, so I don’t have a way to mount my light right now. My dealer is trying to get me the duo one, as well as the new Flare RT mount for the seat.

Ok - now for the pictures! Let me know if you have any specific questions and I can try to answer them!

Looks amazing! Hope you have a blast riding it.

When you are ready to change bar tape, I bet something blue would look killer.

Very nice bike! Is the seatmast aluminum? It looks so but I think it’s supposed to come with a carbon one?? Just curious.

Thanks! The seatmast cap is carbon.

Project One and it wasn’t painted gloss or did you have to swap masts?

It is a standard SLR color, not a special Project One build. It seems they put “Project One” on the SLR frames? Mine has the stock seatmast on there AFAIK.

Mine looks the same as this one on the Trek website.

Good catch. Assumption on my part after seeing the ones listed online sold separately for Emondas (I think at least) appear to be gloss black.

Nice ride!

Can you confirm that the hoses/wires/cables don’t route internally through that RSL integrated bar/stem combo? It looks to me that they run through a channel underneath and are kinda held in there with a bolt-on retainer, but I can’t tell if that goes all the way to the shifters.

I’m considering retrofitting that bar to my 2020 Domane. That 7W of aero gain will make pretty much all the difference

It’s confirmed. You can pull up the manual on the bar on Trek’s page where they show that. Should look really good with the new Domane.

Thanks! I think I’d seen that… but is it actually confirmed that the cables and hoses don’t enter the handlebar at any point (other than maybe the Di2 stuff)?

What I’m trying to say is: I really don’t want to re-cut and re-bleed my hydraulic brakes

No worries. They do not enter the bar. (Note: I say this not as someone who has first hand knowledge, but as someone like you doing as much research as I can because I dont want to cut and route cables)

Here’s a Google Image search and you can see in many of the pictures the cable routing. If you look you can also see the notch where the levers fit that allow the cables to route into the channel

I don’t want to take off the bar tape to 100% confirm, but here’s a photo of the channel and how things are run. Everything I’ve read and seen confirms what Spots has said: they do not enter the bar.

Also, here’s a bonus photo of the new Flare RT blendr mount for the Aeolus saddles.
